Down the TBR Hole #74

I know I said I wanted to try and do a Down the TBR Hole post every other week, but because Isabelle and I switched a post here and there it’s been over a month since I’ve done of these posts. I’m afraid to see how high my want to read shelf has become on Goodreads, haha.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 904 (my last post ended at 886. So after more than a month I’ve added 18 books to my want to read shelf. Not as bad as I expected.)

The Secret Recipe for Moving On – Karen Bischer

I still love this cover, but I honestly forgot what the story was about, haha. Getting dumped by your boyfriend and then having to share a class with him and his new girlfriend doesn’t sound like fun. Even though I know she’ll get her own happily ever after at the moment I don’t think I’ll read this one soon.

Remove

Some Other Now – Sarah Everett

To be honest after reading the first sentence of the synopsis I’m sold, haha. This Is Us for teens and seeing how I love that show I’m intrigued. I have a feeling this is going to be an emotional, but beautiful story.

Keep

Crossbones – Kimberly Vale

Even though I’m not  a fan of people on covers I do really love how the cover of Crossbones turned out. I haven’t read many pirate stories, but do want to read more and this sounds like a great adventure to start with.

Keep

Teen Killer Club – Lily Sparks

The title of this book is the first thing that caught my attention. Our main character is framed for her best friend’s murder and finds a secret society of teenage assassin to save herself from a lifetime behind bars. Teen Killer Club sounds like a really interesting story and something I don’t think I’ve read before. I also have an e-arc of the next book in this series and I’m excited.

Keep

Queen Among the Dead – Lesley Livingston

I added Queen Among the Dead to my want to read shelf in 2020 and there still isn’t a cover or really more information about the book. Even though it still sounds interesting I’m taking it off my shelf until we know more.

Remove

Happy Singles Day – Ann Marie Walker

Our main character is celebrating being single for singles day and visits a bed and breakfast where she meets the owner Lucas. I already have a feeling how this is going to end, but it still sounds like a fun story. The cover is so cute.

Keep

Don’t Tell a Soul – Kirsten Miller

Horror isn’t a genre I read a lot of, but Don’t Tell a Soul sounds good! A new girl in an old town filled with secrets? Yes, please! This sounds like a perfect rainy day read.

Keep

Afterlove – Tanya Byrne

The tagline “not even death will tear them apart” on the cover definitely caught my attention. Our main character gets the invitation to join a fierce group of fierce girl reapers, but is determined to see her first love one more time. This sounds interesting.

Keep

Where Secrets Lie – Eva V. Gibson

A thriller with two timelines is something I love, because it keeps you wondering what’s going on. A girl disappears and the main characters come together to figure out what happened. I love stories like that, so this one is sticking around!

Keep

The Meet-Cute Project – Rhiannon Richardson

Our main character’s best friends decide to put together a plan to find her a date for her sisters’ wedding. They pull inspiration from all of the movies they love and decide she needs a meet cute. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Removal Percentage: 20%
Current “to-read” shelf: 902

Okay, so I didn’t remove many books this week, but I was reminded of a few of these I forgot about. Hopefully I can pick up a few soon. Have you read any of these? Would you have made different choices? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
