Looking Back at Our Bookhauls| March 2021

Now that we’ve talked about our bookhaul and wrap up it’s time to take a look back at last year. It’s time for our Looking Back at Our Bookhauls post for March 2021. Have we read the books we added to our shelves last year? Keep on reading to find out!

Candyce

I have to say March is a month I added more books to my shelves than I was expecting. To be honest I forget it was that much. I’m kind of scared to see how many I’ve read, haha. Let’s take a look anyways!

Heartbreak Cafe – Janet Quin-Harkin
Unread

I received this series from the publisher and did start the first book, but got distracted. This still does interest me I just haven’t gotten to them yet. Hopefully I can read them soon.

Ironsprak – C.M. McGuire
Read

Ironspark was a book TBR and Beyond Tours hosted a tour for and I eventually got a physical ARC. I had already read my e-arc, but I still loved adding this one to my shelves.

Chasing Starlight – Teri Bailey Black
Read

Just like Ironspark I ended up getting a physical ARC of. Chasing Starlight is a historical mystery that takes place in the Golden Age of Hollywood. This book was really good.

Something Happened to Ali Greenleaf – Hayley Krischer
Read

This is the third book I got because of tours. Something Happened to Ali Greenleaf was a really intense story, but it was one I feel is important. Definitely look up triggers before reading this one.

Nightbooks – J.A. White
Read

Nightbooks was such a spooky middle grade book, but it was amazing! I know this is now a Netflix movie and I really need to see it.

The Last Spell Breather – Julie Pike
Read

The cover of this book is so pretty and I loved the whole idea of spell breathing. Unfortunately, the story wasn’t as good as I was expecting. It just wasn’t executed like I thought it would be.

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin – Roseanne A. Brown
Read

The cover of this book is stunning as well as the story. It had me hooked from the start and this makes me remember that I really need to read the sequel.

In Love & Pajamas: A Collection of Comics about Being Yourself Together – Catana Chetwynd
Read

A year later I still love Catana Comics and keep track of them on Instagram. The comics are so relatable and just leave you with a smile on your face.

This is Not the Jess Show – Anna Carey
Read

The whole idea of This is Not the Jess Show was so interesting. I mean finding out that your whole life is basically staged is quite intense. This book was really interesting to read, but I have to say I didn’t completely like the turn of events near the end. I am curious enough that I want to read the next book releasing this year.

The Bone Shard Daughter – Andrea Stewart
Unread

The Bone Shard Daughter is a fantasy I hear nothing but amazing things about, so I really want to read it. I know the third book still has to be released and I have a feeling this is the type of series you want to read back to back. So I may just wait for that release.

Perfect on Paper – Sophie Gonzales
Unread

Perfect on Paper is a book I’m really surprised I haven’t read yet. I loved Only Mostly Devastated and Perfect on Paper sounds amazing. I know Isabelle really loved this one, so I’ll have to give it a go soon.

Chain of Iron – Cassandra Clare
Unread

I’ve actually talked about the first book in this series quite often lately on the blog. I love the Shadowhunter world and was so excited for this trilogy. Why I haven’t started it yet is beyond me. I really need to read these two soon.

Covet – Tracy Wolff
Read

Crave is still a series that’s so addicting. I just can’t stop reading. I’ve even read Covet twice. This is one I read in April of last year I believe and I read it again last month. I had to after not remember much when I started the fourth book in the series.

End Result:
Read: 9/18 – 50%
TBR:
9/18 – 50%

Isabelle

I remember getting some books for my birthday last year and I’m really scared I didn’t read them haha. After checking the bookhaul from last year I realised some of the books didn’t arrive until April so I guess I have another month to pick those books up haha.

Cursed – Frank Miller & Thomas Wheeler
unread

This book is so heavy! But also gorgeous. Unfortunately I haven’t read it yet. It’s pretty big but I am definitely interested in the story. I watch the first episode of the tv show adaptation and did enjoy that. So I guess I should get to it soon haha.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride 2 – Kore Yamazaki
read

This manga has such an interesting world! I would love to binge a ton of volumes in this series but unfortunately I don’t have any unread volumes at the moment. This is definitely a series I want to continue though!

The Umbrella Academy vol. 1 & 2 – Gerard Way & Gabriel Ba
read

I actually like the tv show a lot better to be honest. While this was enjoyable, it was also a bit messy and I wasn’t completely sure what was going on at times. The art wasn’t exactly my taste and I guess this one just wasn’t for me. I will just keep on enjoying the tv show!

End Result:
Read: 3/4 – 75%
TBR:
 1/4–25 %

So those are the books we added to our shelves last year. Have you read any of them? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
