It’s only been a week since my last Down the TBR Hole, but seeing how my want to read list isn’t getting any smaller I didn’t think it’d hurt to do another one so soon. Let’s see how I’ve done since last week.
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 856 (my last post ended at 853. I added three in a week. Not too bad…)
Ghost Wood Song – Erica Waters
I haven’t heard many people talk about Ghost Wood Song, but it sounds like a good read for a dark and rainy day. Lots of family secrets and the boundary between reality and nightmares is thin. Okay, I need to read this.
Keep
Bonds of Brass – Emily Skrutskie
Bonds of Brass is honestly a book I don’t remember adding to my want to read shelf. I read the synopsis again. At the moment it doesn’t sound like something I’ll pick up right away. Even though I have been reading more science fiction.
Remove
The Obsidian Tower – Melissa Caruso
Another book I honestly don’t remember and I really haven’t heard anyone I know talk about The Obsidian Tower. Reading the synopsis again doesn’t really pull me in. At the moment I don’t see myself reading this one. I have a lot of books with the same concept.
Remove
Foundryside – Robert Jackson Bennett
I have to start off by saying I love this cover! Foundryside is a book I have on my shelf and really need to read. This story sounds really unique and I love reading about new magic systems.
Keep
The Lights of Prague – Nicole Jarvis
The Lights of Prague is a book I added to my list, because it said for fans of V.E. Schwab and The Witcher. Also, the cover is really pretty and definitely caught my eye. This book sounds interesting, but again I have so many books on my list. I don’t own this one yet, so far now it has to go.
Remove
Not Like the Movies – Kerry Winfrey
Romances where the main character doesn’t believe in love and ends up finding it are definitely ones that I enjoy. I really believe everyone deserves a happily ever after. As a fan of rom-coms I know Not Like the Movies is a book for me. It’s on my shelf and I hope to read it soon.
Keep
Cracked Up to Be – Courtney Summers
Sometimes a hard-hitting book s something I need at times. Cracked Up to Be sounds like a book that’s going to be hard to read, but also really good.
Keep
Devil Side – Lacey Dailey
Devil Side is a case of a book I’ve already read, but have another edition on my want to read shelf. The main character needs out of the life her father made for her, so goes on a ride with a musician and turns her life upside down. I really enjoyed this book!
Remove
These Violent Delights – Chloe Gong
These Violent Delights has a stunning cover and is a Romeo & Juliet retelling that I’m really looking forward to. I’m actually hoping to read this one next month, because I have an e-arc of the sequel!
Keep
The Worst Best Man – Mia Sosa
To be honest The Worst Best Man is a book that sounds right up my alley. A wedding planner is left at the altar. That is rather ironic, haha. This enemies to lovers books sounds like a lot of fun, but a few of my friends said this wasn’t really wow. I’m not sure if I’m going to pick it up anytime soon.

Removal Percentage: 50%
Current “to-read” shelf: 851
So that’s my Down the TBR Hole for this week! I actually managed to remove half of the books this week from my want to read shelf. So many books that sound amazing are releasing soon, so I have a feeling this is going to increase again. What did you think of my choices? Would you have done differently for any titles? Let me know in the comments!
Foundryside is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy when you get there.
