As I do every Thursday, I went looking for a fun tag today. And as soon as I saw this title, I knew this was one I wanted to do! Recently we watched the movie Bohemian Rhapsody again and I just loved it so much. I started listening to Queen all over again and this was just perfect! The tag was created by The Bookish Underdog and I found it over at Zezee’s blog. Let’s jump into the questions!
“MAMA, JUST KILLED A MAN” – A FICTIONAL CHARACTER’S DEATH THAT REALLY UPSET YOU?
There is a big character death in Kingdom of Ash that had me bawling out my eyes. It involved some of my favorite characters and I just sat there going ‘no, no, no, you can’t be doing this!’. After also reading a very upsetting death in House of Earth and Blood I am afraid to continue with Sarah’s books haha.
“CARRY ON, CARRY ON” – PICK A BOOK THAT WAS HARD TO KEEP READING BUT WAS WORTH IT IN THE END.
This is a harder question haha, endings are super important to me and can definitely save a book. But of course I can’t think of any right now. A book that took me awhile for example is Elantris, due to the size of it. Books like that always have some slower bits, but in the end I really loved it!
“SENDS SHIVERS DOWN MY SPINE” – PICK A BOOK WITH A BEAUTIFUL SPINE/COVER.
A recently acquired book with a gorgeous cover and spine is Rule of Wolves. I got the Illumicrate version so I could have the matching set with my King of Scars. And I’m very happy with this set! The books are super shiny, have gorgeous sprayed edges and are just simply stunning.
“GOODBYE EVERYBODY, I’VE GOT TO GO” – A BOOK THAT YOU COULDN’T FINISH.
A very recent dnf was Pride & Premeditation. This was entirely my fault though haha. I was excited for this book and saw it was on Storytel. So when I left Candyce’s house I put it on to listen on the ride back home. And I was confused all over, what was going on and why did I think this would be a book for me? Turns out there are two books with this name and the one I picked was not a book I would want to read hahaha. So I listened to it for 30 minutes and was happy to be home and quit it haha.
“THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTNING, VERY, VERY FRIGHTENING” – WHICH BOOK DID YOU FIND VERY, VERY FRIGHTENING?
I’m going to pick a middle grade for this one, but I can tell you it was very very frightening. And that was Small Spaces. I was definitely creeped out haha. There is another book in this series and there will be two more, you can bet I will be reading those. But probably during the day haha.
“BISMILLAH, NO! WE WILL NOT LET YOU GO” – WHICH BOOK/SERIES DO YOU WISH THERE HAD BEEN MORE OF?
This is hard, because I always want more in my favorite worlds, and we are getting more from some of them. A standalone that warranted a sequel in my opinion is Sorcery of Thorns. It seemed like it would end in a satisfying way but there was a small scene at eh end that made me scream for another book haha.
“MAMMA MIA, MAMMA MIA” – WHICH BOOK/SERIES SHOULD BE MADE INTO A MUSICAL?
I love musicals! But I never really thought about this haha. I guess you can make anything into a musical if you want to. But I would love to see a book from the Lady Janies as a musical. I could especially see My Calamity Jane working as one. My Lady Jane would be awesome but might be harder to pull off.
THE HEAD BANGING BIT – WHICH BOOK MADE YOU FACE-PALM?
All the House of Night books, and then especially at myself…. Why did I continue reading this whole series? The first books were enjoyable but along the way the story was stretch out so much and I just wanted to know how it ended.
“OH BABY, CAN’T DO THIS TO ME, BABY” – PICK A MOMENT FROM A BOOK WHERE YOU FELT LIKE THE AUTHOR WAS BEING MEAN TO YOU?
Leigh Bardugo was really mean in her portrayal of Mal in the Grishatrilogy…. I really disliked him and didn’t like the ending. And now I might actually like him in the Netflix show? Not okay haha.
“NOTHING REALLY MATTERS TO ME” – WHICH CHARACTER(S) DID YOU NOT CARE ABOUT?
I don’t really care about the characters in Stalking Jack the Ripper. The first book wasn’t that good in my opinion but everyone seemed to like the second one. And I loved the title and premise of the third. So I do own the whole series haha. I’ve read the first two but I don’t really care what happens to the characters to be honest.
And that was the Bohemian Rhapsody tag! I loved doing this while listening to my Queen playlist. And right this moment Bohemian Rhapsody started playing, very fitting! I would love to know which book you would like to see turned into a musical. Let me know down below!
This was so fun! And OMG I could TOTALLY see the Lady Janies as musicals!
What a fun post! I really enjoyed it.
This tag is brilliant! And I love your responses. (Also, have you watched Shadow and Bone yet? No one gave them the memo that Mal is so unlikable–the actor is so charismatic Mal’s actually one of my TV favourites! I am SHOCKED.)
