Show Sunday | First Look: Walker

One of the new tv shows I’m watching is Walker with Jared Padelecki or Sam Winchester ;).  The first three episodes are out now and I wanted to give my first thoughts about this show. Let’s jump right in!

A widowed father returns to Austin after two years, attempting to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family, and find common ground with his new partner, while growing increasingly suspicious of his wife’s death.

Walker is a reboot of the 1993 tv show Walker, Texas Ranger. I never watched that show so I don’t have any nostalgic feelings either. Like I said, I became aware of this show thanks to Jared Padalecki. I was interested to see what he was going to do after Supernatural. But I also saw some other amazing actors, one of them being the 100’s Lindsey Morgan. I adore her so my excitement got only bigger haha.

I’ve seen the first three episodes and while I’ve seen a lot of people who are very critical, I am really enjoying the show. And it’s already been renewed for a second season! I enjoy the setting and the character-driven storylines. There are also some crime storylines in each episode but they’re not that interesting compared to the rest of the show and I don’t feel like the focus is really on the crimes.

The trailer hints at some drama that is yet to happen but I’m already excited to find out all that went down with Emily’s death. But I think we’ll have to wait until the end of the season for more answers. I do hope we see more of Hoyt soon, he was a part of the third episode and made it my favorite! The family dynamics are evolving and also becoming more clear. There was one scene between Abeline (Cordell Walker’s mom) and Hoyt (his childhood best friend) that was so emotional to me, I can’t believe not more people are talking about it! I loved it so much and I truly hope we get to see more of them <3.

This may not be the ‘best’ show out there but I really enjoyed the first three episodes and I think it has the potential to be a great show. It’s nice to know we will get a second season so there is time to get to the answers surrounding Emily’s death. I will definitely continue watching this show!

  1. I feel the same about it. It is totally growing on me very fast – it’s such a compelling story each week – and I never watched the original and wouldn’t have watched this one if it didn’t have some of my favorite CW stars ❤️
