Royal Update #57

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

It’s still hard to believe it’s now officially 2021! New Year’s Eve was nice and calm. I spent the evening with my mother and boyfriend. We had good food, watched a few good shows and we played Mansions of Madness and Marvel Legendary.

The rest of the weekend was just nice and quiet and I’ve already had my full first week back at work. The Christmas decorations are all picked up and it kind of feels like it all never happened. This weekend I got some reading done and relaxed. The boyfriend’s parents stopped by for a cup of coffee (everyone was fine). We’re still on lockdown here, so more than that isn’t really possible. So my routine will be the same going to work and spending time at home.

Since last time I only added one ARC to my Kindle. I’m starting the new year off well. I’m doing a blog tour for Of Silver and Shadow in February and this book sounds really good. I don’t think I’ve read a story with a silver wielder. This is going to be interesting and the cover is beautiful.

Since my last update I finished The Ruins of Gorlan, The Burning Shadow, Write Before Christmas, Now Entering Addamsville, The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre, Bone Crier’s Moon and Glimpsed.

At the moment I’m reading (way too many books at once, haha) A Deadly Education, Letters to the Lost, The Brightest Night, A Pinch of Magic, Skyhunter, The Binding and The Duke and I.

This week I plan on starting A Crown of Echoes, The Bookworm Crush and Check Please! Vol. 1

Once again I didn’t collect a lot of bookish news items, but there were two cover reveals that I saw this past week that I wanted to share. I definitely want to read both of these books.

I’m starting the year off right, I haven’t done any shopping. Then again, it’s not that hard with all non-essential stores still being closed here, haha.

Of course I also heard about the Bridgerton hype going on and I was really curious. I watched all eight episodes and I’m hooked. That was such a good show and I didn’t see that ending coming. Hopefully we get a second season, because I need more.

Besides that the boyfriend and I started watching The OC. I started watching this show when it was first airing, but they ended up showing it really late out here. I know for sure I’ve seen the whole first season, but I can’t remember how much I saw after that.

I recently discovered we have a lot of radio stations on our TV and one was Heroes of Zeroes. This really started bringing back memories, so I made my own Spotify playlist with a lot of songs I haven’t heard in ages! I’ve been hooked.

So that’s my Royal Update for this week! How have you been? Have you read anything interesting? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Brilliant post! I am on with too many books at once right now as well and I really need to cut it down but so many books and so little time! I wish that someone would just pay me to sit and read so that I could spend my working hours cutting down my tbr pile. A girl can dream!
