We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Darkest Minds comes a sweepingly ambitious, high-octane tale of power, destiny, love and redemption.
Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals, hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality.
Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world in the wake of her family’s sadistic murder by a rival line, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory. For years she’s pushed away any thought of revenge against the man–now a god–responsible for their deaths.
Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek out her help: Castor, a childhood friend of Lore believed long dead, and a gravely wounded Athena, among the last of the original gods.
The goddess offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and, at last, a way for Lore to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore’s decision to bind her fate to Athena’s and rejoin the hunt will come at a deadly cost–and still may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.
I love the Alexandra Bracken books I’ve read so far and I really want to read the rest of her backlog. But for now I’m looking forward to Lore! I’m pretty sure it’s a standalone and it’s based on mythology. The cover looks amazing and I love the Medusa vibes. I really like mythology so I’m excited to see what Alexandra did with these stories we all know.
Alexandra’s The Darkest Minds series is one of my favorite YA series and I really enjoyed her writing. I’m sure she’s only grown since then and I’m excited to see how her writing has changed over the years. Hopefully it’s as good as I remember.
It’s not related to the books but I also really like Alexandra on social media haha. She shares a lot. I especially love that she spoke up for black lives matter, if you sent her a receipt that you sent money to one of the funds she would sent you some signed book plates. Of course I had to do that, I already wanted to sent some money and this was a nice added bonus. To me it just shows she’s a kind and good-hearted human!
Have you read anything by Alexandra Bracken before? And are you excited for Lore? Come talk to me in the comments!
