Royal Update #45

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

This is going to be a short and boring life update, haha. Things here haven’t changed and have only gone down hill. We’re back in a partial lockdown. So at the moment, I go to work and am at home other than that. Thankfully the rainy and colder weather have made that a pretty nice experience. More time to cuddle with the cats and read!

This past week I made a decision about reviewing and applying for ARCs. I’ve always been a mood reader, but the past couple of years I’ve been pretty good at making myself read with a schedule. Except the past few months I’ve noticed I’m having a harder time and the books on my shelves are calling to me more and more.

That being said, I’ve decided to cut back a lot with reviewing. I’m sticking to TBR and Beyond Tours and the rare book I know I’m going to love here and there. In these past two weeks I’ve received three new ARCs.

The Camelot Betrayal – Kiersten White I’m a big fan of the covers in this trilogy! I still have to read The Guinevere Betrayal, but having the sequel definitely motivates me to pick it up soon.

The Boy, the Wolf, and the Stars – Shivaun Plozza Lately, I’ve been reading more middle grade and loving it. The Boy, the Wolf, and the Stars sounds like one I’m going to love. If the story is as good as this cover I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.

Namesake – Adrienne Young Fable is on my TBR to read pretty soon, but when I saw Namesake as read now on Netgalley I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Fable, so I know I’m going to need to the sequel.

Since my last Royal Update I read Running, Kingdom of the Wicked, All This Time, One of Us is Next, The Code for Love and Heartbreak, I Hope You’re Listening, Beastly Bones and Furyborn.

At the moment I’m reading The Bone Garden, The Mall and Fix Her Up. I’m in the middle of a few other books, but these are the ones I’m actively reading.

I definitely have some reading plans for this coming week and I’m being pretty ambitious, haha. I hope to start reading In a Holidaze, Vampires Never Get Old, Well Played, Horrid, Love Her or Lose Her and The Tigers in the Tower.

There were a lot of amazing cover reveals this week, but there are two pieces of bookish news that really caught my attention that I needed to share!

I haven’t head a lamp on my nightstand since we got our kittens a few years ago. One jumped up and knocked the lamp over. My boyfriend had one, but it’s more of a desk lamp, so we decided it was time to get normal lights. I don’t have a picture of the one on my night stand (it’s rather cluttered, haha). This is the lamp we got:

I’m so glad some of my favorite shows will be starting again soon. Along with Hallmark Christmas movies. Yes, they’re cheesy and predictable, but I love them!! At the moment I’m watching the second season of Instinct. It’s pretty good.

I’ve been listening to Spotify a lot on my commute to and from work, but I used the free version. Lately, I’ve been going nuts with all the ads (after every 2 songs), so the boyfriend and I got premium duo. It’s so nice listening without the constant ads. This week I’ve been listening to Demi Lovato after hearing her newest single.

So that’s my update for this week! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. If you’ve read anything good lately or seen something you think I should know about, let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
