Show Sunday | Emily in Paris

Last week a new show dropped on Netflix and yes, I watched the whole show in a day haha. I already watched the trailer and was excited for this new show but I never expected to enjoy it as much as I did. Of course I’m talking about Emily in Paris, so let’s jump right in!

A young American woman from the Midwest is hired by a marketing firm in Paris to provide them with an American perspective on things.

Emily in Paris consists of 10 episodes of 30 minutes each. We follow Emily as she moves to Paris. She doesn’t really speak French, or better said she doesn’t speak it at all. Of course this doesn’t sit well with her new coworkers and they don’t really see eye to eye on a lot of things. This makes for some hilarious moments!!

Emily in Paris is from the makers of Younger and Sex and the City. So that already tells you a lot about the vibes of the show haha. I love Younger and was super excited to find out this little fact. Hopefully we get a second season because this show is hilarious and there are a couple of gorgeous guys in there.

After watching a couple of episodes I told my mother to go and watch this show right away, she learning French at the moment and I knew she would get a kick out of this. She told her French teacher about the show and she also loved it haha.

I’ve seen some French people criticising the show. And I do agree with some parts. It’s very unrealistic how many people speak English in Paris haha. I’ve been to Paris a couple of times and Parisians are rude haha. My parents have a house in a different part of France and the people there are so many nicer and more willing to talk to you. A couple other things aren’t super realistic either and yes part of it is pretty americanised. But overall, it’s a tv show and a hilarious one at that.

While I enjoyed all episodes, number 8 was probably my favorite. I laughed so hard!! The season finale was great as well and like I said, there better be a second season! I need more haha. Emily manages to get herself in hilarious situations (with some gorgeous men).

I think it’s pretty clear I liked this show a lot and I would highly recommend it. Do you have any similar shows you’d recommend? Let me know in the comments!
