We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
Our heatwave finally ended, but we had a few more warm days at the end of last week. It’s finally cooling down though and I’m so happy about that. The humidity just makes it impossible here to do anything without overheating. So I’ve basically been working and reading. Trying to stay cool as much as possible.
Again, I have to report that I got a lot of ARCs these past two weeks, haha. September is going to be a crazy reading month, but I’m really looking forward to it.
Majesty – Katharine McGee Okay, I still need to read American Royals, but knowing I have the sequel will give me extra motivation. The story sounds like something I’ll love, so I’m excited to give it a go!
Chasing Starlight – Teri Bailey Black After reading this author’s book Girl at the Grave, I’ve been looking forward to a new book by her. When I read “movies, mansions and murders” in the synopsis I was sold. I’m participating on the blog tour next month.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab If I’m honest I never expected to get my request for this one. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is an anticipated release for a lot of people, but I was so excited when I get the email it was available for me. I’ll be trying to fly through my September TBR, so I can read this one.
Ironspark – C.M. McGuire I only recently heard about Ironsprak, but it sounds like a book for me! Our main character has to keep the town safe from murderous fae! That sounds interesting.
These Violent Delights – Chloe Gong A Romeo and Juliet retelling that takes place in Shanghai in the 1920s. I’ve never read a Romeo and Juliet retelling and this sounds amazing.
A Golden Fury – Samantha Cohoe The philosopher’s stone is something I find interesting, so I think A Golden Fury is just up my alley. Add in a curse and you have my attention!
I Hope You’re Listening – Tom Ryan Mysteries and thrillers are something I want to read more of and I Hope You’re Listening sounds amazing. Our main character has a radio podcast about missing persons cases and works online with people to solve them. Perfect read for a rainy day!
Rock Star, Confined – S.M. Shade This author writes books that make you laugh, but also knows how to hit you in all the feels. The last Rock Star duet was intense and I’ve been looking forward to this one.
Miss Apprehended & Miss Understood – Miranda Elaine & Amie Knight I’ve read books by these authors separately, but never together so it sounds like fun. These two books are novellas and fast reads are nice every once in awhile.
Penthouse Prince – Kendall Ryan A single dad romance? Yes, please!! I have a feeling this will be steamy, funny and leave a smile on my face when I finish reading it.
Rocked – Julia Wolf I love Julia’s rock star romances. They’re not the typical characters you expect them to be. Devon is a character we’ve met in a previous book and I honestly didn’t like him. Julia is good at making me love all of her characters, so I can’t say I’m not curious!
Since my last reading update I’ve read Four Days of You and Me, Back to Shore, Heroine, Where Dreams Descend, Thorn, The Beast and The Bethany, Miss Apprehended, The Henna Wars and The Wrath and The Dawn.
At the moment I’m reading Serpent & Dove, Jackaby, The Reality of Everything, The How and The Why, The Quiet You Carry and The Rose & The Dagger.
This week I’ll be starting Penthouse Prince, Ironspark, Quiet No More and The Inheritance Games.
There were quite a few cover reveals this week, but there were two that really got my attention. As a big fan of Red, White and Royal Blue I was excited that we were getting the cover to this author’s next book and a release date. We have to wait until June 2021, but I’m so excited! And Leigh Bardugo shared the cover to the sequel of King of Scars. It turned out gorgeous and definitely matches King of Scars.
Once again, I haven’t bought anything new. The only thing I bought were a few things for a Halloween swap I’m participating in. I can’t show those things at the moment, but they definitely put me in the mood for Halloween!
I haven’t really watched much lately. These past two weeks I’ve been watching cooking shows on Netflix. I watched the first season of Sugar Rush and Zumbo’s Just Desserts! I love baking and it’s always interesting to see what kind of creations people make. And Zumbo’s desserts are insane, but look delicious.
When I was listening to the radio last week I heard a song by Sia. I enjoy her music and hadn’t listened to it in quite awhile, so that’s what I’ve been listening to this past week!
For some reason it won’t show my playlist like it normally does, but if you click on the link it will take you to my playlist on Spotify!
So that’s how I’ve been doing the past couple of weeks. Nothing really exciting going on. How have you been? If you’ve read anything good lately I’d love to hear about it!
