Royal Update #34

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

Things haven’t been too exciting here. With everything going on in the world, I still stay in my own bubble mostly, haha. Last weekend we went to the friends that live close by. We had a BBQ and another game night. It was a lot of fun and it’s nice to have a little bit of normal.

This week was my first full week of work since halfway through March and I really have to get used to this again. It’s an extra day and one of my days got longer. Let’s say I was in bed early a few nights this week. To relax a bit I cuddled with the cats and binge watched The Babysitters Club. I loved it so much and hope it gets a new season!

I’ll be surprised if I ever write one of these posts without having ARCs too add to the post, haha. Since my last royal update I’ve received five new ARCs on Netgalley.

Crave – Tracy Wolff This book released earlier this year, but was now on Netgalley UK! I’m still not sure about this one. A good friend of mine didn’t like it at all. I’ve seen some mixed reviews, so I can’t wait to see what I end up thinking about this one.

The Year Shakespeare Ruined My Life – Dani Jansen A contemporary that sounds like it’ll make me laugh is something I can’t say no to. It’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out!

I Kissed Alice – Anna Birch I knew I wanted this one after I read “for fans of Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda and Fangirl”. I’m fans of both! Also a fanfic site and anonymous messaging. I Kissed Alice has all of the elements I’m known to love!

The Haunting of Aveline Jones – Phil Hickes A middle grade that looks really amazing and perfect for Halloween. One I totally forgot I requested. Oops! A spooky mystery is just what I need right now.

Ignite the Sun – Hanna Howard I don’t think I’ve ever read a fantasy where the sun plays such a big role. I really think this story sounds a lot of fun. I’ll be on the blog tour soon, so you’ll see my review next month.

Since my last Royal Update, I’ve gotten some reading done and finished some books. I’ve read The Court of Miracles, The Queen, You Should See Me in a Crown, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Quarter Miles, The Fascinators and The Jumbies.

At the moment I’m reading Wicked, Shielded, The Diviners, Lucas and #famous.

This week I want to start quite a few books. I’ll be reading The Ship of Shadows, Slay, Lobizona, Curvy Girls Can’t Date Quarterbacks and A Wicked Magic.

I have some cover reveals to show you this week! These are only a few of the cover reveals from the past week. If I were to post them all, this would be way too long!

Once again, this part of my post is really boring, haha. I didn’t buy anything new this week!

As I mentioned I watched The Babysitters Club. I watched all 10 episodes in less than two days, haha. I loved it all. The books were something I really loved when I was younger. I really hope that this show gets more episodes.

Also, I finally finished catching up with 9-1-1. If you haven’t watched this show, I really recommend it. This show is so intense!! I’m sad that I’m all caught up now.

I’m boring again and have been back to listening to Home Free. I really need to start looking through my music and see what I haven’t listened to in ages.

So that was my life the past two weeks! How have you been? Read anything good? Feel free to let me know in the comments. I’d love to chat!

  1. The Year Shakespeare Ruined My Life sounds like it could be a fun read I must put it on my TBR list 😁

I have only watched 2 episodes of The Babysitters Club and really enjoy it but I got a bit stuck on New Girl so I have binged that one instead but I need to start it again soon.

Nice to meet up with some friends, I only met with a friend fast while exchanging books with eachother.

  2. The Babysitters Club is such a cute show! My daughter told me I had to watch it – kept insisting actually. So, I did ❤️ and I, too, hope it gets a second season.
