We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books That Make Me Smile. So many books make me smile, so this is going to be hard! It can be for any reason though. I have to think about this one, but let’s take a look at what I chose!
Red, White and Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston This is just a feel good read for me and I can’t recommend this one enough. Yes, it hits you in all the feels and I even cried a bit, it every minute is worth it. Alex and Henry are definitely one of my favorite fictional couples.
Date Me, Bryson Keller – Kevin van Whye Another book that hit me in all the feels, but left me with a big smile on my face at the end. Kai and Bryson start off as a bet, but it heads to more. Again, it made me laugh and cry!
The Bone Charmer – Breeana Shields Sometimes when you pick up a book, the story just takes you by surprise. The Bone Charmer is one of these books and that makes me happy. It’s not one I’ve heard a lot about, but it definitely deserves more hype than it gets.
My Lady Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows History can be interesting, but these three authors take it to a whole new level. I love all the twists and special touches and I laughed out loud a lot while reading, I just finished the third book in this trilogy, My Calamity Jane, and I’m sad it’s over. Luckily, they’re writing a new trilogy together.
Heartstopper Vol. 1 – Alice Oseman Heartstopper is the sweetest graphic novel and I just can’t get enough. Again, this is one that can hit you in the feels, but also gives you the biggest smile you can imagine. I haven’t read Vol. 3 yet, but I don’t want to be done yet. The wait for Vol. 4 will just be harder, haha.
Let’s Get Textual – Teagan Hunter This author really knows how to make her readers laugh. And I’m a big fan of texts and e-mails in books, so this made my bookish heart happy!
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating – Christina Lauren Again, another author duo that really knows how to make me laugh. The main character in this book, Hazel, is so much fun. She doesn’t have a filter and gets herself in trouble.
10 Blind Dates – Ashley Elston I’m a big fan of holiday related books and this one is so much fun. After an unexpected break up, our main character gets set up on 10 blind dates. Her family chooses the dates and this leads to some funny and awkward dates. I think I’ll be doing a reread this winter.
Small Spaces – Katherine Arden I couldn’t put Small Spaces doen. I love when a story just sucks you right in and just won’t let go. And for a middle grade book, Small Spaces is pretty creepy. Again, I think I’ll be doing a reread soon.
Guarded Dreams – LJ Evans If I’m honest, all the books L.J. writes makes me smile. She knows how to make you love her characters and feel for them during their story. They also make you laugh and the romance is amazing. I know my bookish heart will be happy when I start one of her books!
These are only a few of the books that make my bookish heart very happy! What books make you smile? Any books I need to check out? Let me know in the comments and feel free to leave your links as well.
