TTT #132 | The Last Ten Books I Abandoned

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is The Last Ten Books I Abandoned. I hardly ever DNF a book but I do put them down in favor of something else only to forget about them for a while haha. So today’s post will be a reminder of all the book I need to pick back up ;). Let’s dive in!

1.House of Earth and Blood – Sarah J. Maas

I can’t believe I haven’t read this Sarah J Maas book yet! She is a favorite author of mine and I really enjoyed what I read so far. I do plan on picking it up soonish but I’m not reading as much at the moment. From what I read so far I think this will be a highly rated book for me and I can’t wait to find out more about the mystery, the world and the characters.

2. The Bromance Book Club – Lyssa Kay Adams

Can you believe I have been reading this book? This is pretty far outside my comfort zone but I loved what I read so far. I planned on reading it during the O.W.L.s but didn’t get around to finishing it, or get very far into it haha. This book has been pretty hyped and I think it might totally live up to that hype!

3. Wildcard – Marie Lu

I finally picked up this sequel to Warcross for a buddyread in the TBR and Beyond FB group. We read the duology and I was happy to finally cross this series of my list. However, I didn’t actually finish the book haha. I wasn’t able to finish it before the discussion date and I wasn’t super motivated to continue after haha. Hopefully I can finish it soon!

4. Girl Made of Stars – Ashley Herring Blake

This is not a book I would pick out myself but it’s part of a fun project Candyce and I are participating in. I was pleasantly surprised by what I read so far but it’s very heavy matter. Since the crisis I haven’t been in the mood to read a book with such a real topic but I do plan on finishing it soonish.

5. Hunted – Meagan Spooner

I read the first couple of chapters but wasn’t completely sucked in. There is a chance I will officially DNF this one if I don’t enjoy it more once I pick it back up. I have been trying to DNF a bit easier as I don’t really have to time to read books I’m not enjoying. This one has been on my TBR for a long time and I might’ve just missed the time to enjoy it.

6. A Curse so Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer

This book has been hyped so much! I read the first couple of chapters but didn’t get the hype yet to be honest. Maybe my expectations were to high but I just wasn’t sucked in right away. I do plan on reading it pretty soon but I can’t say I’m super excited haha.

7. Otherworld – Kirsten Miller & Jason Segel

I had been wanting to read this one for so long! And I really liked what I read so far. Now I just have to jump back in haha. It seems like I’m a bit of a broken record but that’s just what happens with a topic like this ;).

8. Dreams of Gods and Monsters – Laini Taylor

I loved the first two books in this series. And I loved them a lot more than I was expecting. I planned on reading the last one pretty soon after but I somehow didn’t. Candyce and I started a buddyread but somewhere along the way I stopped reading haha. I really want to know how this story ends and I hope to continue the book at least this year.

9. Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard

Why haven’t I read this one yet?! I love this series and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Last week we got the title reveal for the next book and that got me all excited for Bloodwitch. I liked what I read so far and I should just pick it up as soon as I finish my current reads haha.

10. Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff

This is another one where I just can’t believe I haven’t read the rest of the book yet. After loving Nevernight and the first couple of chapters of this one I should’ve just continued on haha. But something else came up and I haven’t gone back to it yet. Hopefully this post get’s me to read it soon!

These were 10 of the books I recently abandoned. And very much want to read soon haha! Have you read any of these? Which would you recommend me to pick up first? Tell me all about it in the comments!

  1. Great list! It’s a shame when books are so hyped it makes them hard for us to enjoy if we don’t get sucked in straight away. I hope you enjoy all of these if you decide to pick them back up!

  2. I haven’t picked Crescent City back up again either. There was something about the info dump in the first few chapters that made me take a break from fantasy for a while. I dived straight in to The Bromance Book Club (which is why your post made me laugh! Thanks for the unintended bright spark of humour to my day!). I really enjoyed reading about Gavin and Thea so I hope you enjoy the book too when you pick it up again. Fab post Isabelle 🙂 – Jen (from Nen and Jen)

  3. I didn’t finish Hunted either. I just couldn’t get into it and there was too much going on that I had no desire to push through. I’ve been meaning to read Bromance Book Club so I am glad you are liking it so far!
