We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
Not much has changed in the world in the past two weeks, so I haven’t really done anything exciting. Working, reading, watching shows, going for a walk around the block are all of the things I really do at the moment.
The cats have been enjoying having us home though, haha. They’re going to have a lot to get used to when we go back to our normal schedule. I have another week and a half off of work when typing this, so hopefully I get a lot of reading done. My April TBR was really ambitious, so hopefully I can complete it.
Once again, I’ve added three books to ARC collection. These are all April releases and I’ve already finished one of them.
A Slice of Love – Teagan Hunter This is a novella in the Slice series. It’s only a little over 150 pages and was a lot of fun to read. My review came online last weekend! If you’re looking for fun reads that make you laugh, I definitely recommend checking out this author.
The Life We Have – Kelsey Kingsley Adding this book to my Kindle made me a very happy bookworm. Kelsey is one of my favorite authors at the moment. She has such a way with words. I’ve been looking forward to this book since she announced she was writing it.
Avenged by Love – LJ Evans I’ve talked about this author a lot lately and she deserves all of the attention. LJ Evans is another favorite of mine and she’s been teasing us with this book for awhile. I finally got my hands on it and even though I’m excited, I don’t want it to be over either, haha.
I’m lucky to still be able to read normally with everything going on. The first week or two was a bit distracting, but I’ve definitely found my rythm. Since my last update I’ve finished My Lady Jane, The Shadows Between Us, House of Earth and Blood, Deadly First Day, A Slice of Love, Loveboat Taipei, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Wildcard and Alma Underwood is Not a Kleptomaniac.
At the moment, I’m still reading a lot at once. I’m pretty far with Lifel1k3, Aurora Rising, The Burning Sky, The Black Witch and Sawkill Girls. I’m listening to Goodbye from Nowhere.
This week I plan on starting Wild for You, Every Heart a Doorway, The Merciful Crow and Aru Shah and the Song of Death.
I actually have quite a few bookish news items this week! Unfortunately also news about a book being delayed, but I completely understand why it’s happening. Let’s take a look!
Since my speaker I haven’t bought anything new. A few books were added to my collection, but those I’ll be showing you in our bookhaul at the end of the month. With everything being closed, there aren’t any random shopping moments anymore.
I’m trying to think if I’ve really watched much lately. My boyfriend and I finished the second season of Sex Education! It’s so good. I really can’t wait for the next season. This show was a lot better than I expected.
Other than that I’ve been busy watching Booktube videos. I’ve recently discovered some new accounts, so I’ve been playing catch up with those. If you have any booktuber recommendations, let me know!
I mentioned earlier in this post that I got my ARC of Avenged by Love. Every chapter is a song title, so I’ve been listening to the playlist. LJ chooses good songs for her books!
So that’s my Royal Update for this week! How have you been doing? Have you been able to read any good books lately? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
