Teagan Hunter is a go to author for me when I need a laugh and a good romance. Even though her stories can be serious at times, there are always funny/lighter moments mixed in. The Slice series has been a lot of fun so far and I’ve reviewed them all up until now (A Pizza My Heart, I Knead You Tonight & Doughn’t Let Me Go).
This week the novella, A Slice of Love, was released. It was first found in the anthology Team Player 2, but can now be bought seperately. A big thanks to Wildfire Marketing Solutions and the author for providing me with an ARC to read and review.
Jonas Schwartz isn’t just good at playing football. He’s also good at playing hearts and four years ago, he played mine like it was the easiest game of his life.
Brokenhearted, I ran off to art school, swearing to forget about my one-off secret weekend with the star quarterback.
I’d heard whispers about his injury, but I never expected Jonas to return to our hometown to rehab his knee, and I certainly never thought he’d show up on the other side of my door with a pizza in hand.
He looks good. Better than before.Whatever–I’m over him.
I’ve completely moved on.
I just wish my heart would get the memo…
A Slice of Love is a second chance romance. Frankie and Jonas have history. There has always been a connection, but things aren’t easy. Dating is hard when you mom is the principal of your high school and your dad is a priest. Let’s just say, Frankie’s love life was a complicated thing.
Frankie and Jonas always had a connection and got close their senior year. Things got weird after certain events and even more so when they run into each other so many years later. I loved the glimpse of the past leading up to everything happening and how it connected with where this story starts off. Novellas can be hard. I mean, I need enough information, but there’s only so much a novella can give.
Teagan Hunter gave us a fun balance between past and present, romance, drama and swooning. I really loved Jonas and Frankie. I have to say Frankie especially because she loves books. A Slice of Love left a smile on my face and made me really excited for the next installment in this series.
Part of me even wishes that this got a full length novel. I would’ve loved to have had their notebook a little more present in this story and seeing them find their way back to eachother. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed this story. It’s just when you come to love characters so much, you can never have enough!
I’m a Missouri-raised gal, but currently live in North Carolina with my US Marine husband and 9-year-old dog. I spend my days begging him for a cat, and I survive off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When I’m not writing, you can find me binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. I like cold weather, buy more paperbacks than I’ll ever read, and I never say no to brownies.
Writing is my passion, and this is just the beginning of my journey.

A Slice of Love was another fun addition to the Slice series. I can’t wait for the next book. What’s your favorite romantic comedy? I can never get enough of them!
