Show Sunday | Comfort Shows

In times like these it’s nice to have something to comfort you. Sometimes that’s a good book (or listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks again haha) and sometimes that’s a tv show. Today I want to share some of my comfort shows with you all! Let’s dive in.

The Good Place

The Good Place is a super popular series so I’d be surprised if you hadn’t heard of it yet. But in case you haven’t, its all starts off with Eleanor who has just died and gone to ‘the good place’. However, she quickly realizes she shouldn’t be there at all and tries to disguise that with the help off her new ‘soul mate’. I adored this show so much, it has hilarious moments but also very heart-felt ones. This is a very highly rated show and you can watch all the episodes since it concluded this year.

Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings

I have only watched the first two episodes but I already love it. Every episode is a bit of a mini-movie based on a Dolly Parton song and it’s amazing. I love Dolly Parton as a singer and she has a little cameo in every episode. It’s great seeing some of her songs come to life like this!

Superstore

Superstore is currently on it’s fifth season and I enjoy it so much. It’s about employees at a big box store and it’s both relatable and hilarious. I laugh out loud all the time while watching it but it also touches upon some very difficult topics. It might not be the best comedy show out there but I do recommend it for sure.

One Day at a Time

One Day at a Time is AMAZING! I watched the first 3 seasons on Netflix and I can’t wait to watch the fourth season. Netflix somehow decided to cancel this wonderful show but it got picked up by someone else. This show is super funny but also very heart-felt. I love the characters, the storylines and just the overall feeling the show leaves you with.

The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia

This definitely isn’t the best show out there, but it’s a quick, fun watch. I watched the whole season in one or two days and I’m actually excited for the next season. It’s a bit cheesy and the storylines aren’t super original but you will have a fun time watching it. I quite liked the characters and the feel of the show.

Atypical

Atypical is one hell of a show! It’s about a boy with autism and his family. I think they are doing a wonderful job portraying his autism and I adore the show so much. But autism isn’t the only part of the show, all family members have their own storyline and they’re all good! The next season will be the last and I’m already sad about it. But before it ends, we will get one more wonderful season!

Jane the Virgin

Jane the Virgin ended last year and I loved how it ended. I think they ended the show in the perfect way and I’m so glad I joined the ride. This show is set up as a telenovela and has some crazy storylines. What else can you expect from a show where the main character accidentally gets inseminated. There is a ton of drama but they did it in a very fun way.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

I did not expect to like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. And I was soooo wrong! This show is amazing. It is hilarious, over the top and turns out to have some very good messages. Our main character breaks into song all the time and the songs are perfect. I enjoyed this show so much and talking about it makes me want to rewatch it all.

Awkward

An oldie but a goldie! It’s been years since Awkward ended but it was one of my favorite shows at the time. I still follow some of the actors on instagram and I love their real life friendships. The storyline was wonderful and the characters really captured my heart. Like I said, they’re friends in real life and I think you can really see that reflected in their acting.

These are some of the shows I turn to in times of need! If you need a good comforting show, these are the ones I would recommend. Do you have any good recommendations? I would love to dive into a new show!
