We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
I don’t think I really need to say that I haven’t done much the past few weeks. With everything going on I’ve been inside mostly. I had a cold last week, so was home for the whole week. The only thing I really did was read and have kitty cuddles. Hopefully these life updates can be more interesting really soon! I really hope people listen and stay inside if they don’t have to be anywhere!!
Even though I’ve been really good about not signing up for blog tours, etc., I’ve seemed to have added quite a few ARCs to my Kindle since I last wrote a Royal Update. Netgalley had some Read Now books I really wanted, I had some autoapproved books that looked amazing and I got approved for a book. So I added a total of 7 books from Netgalley. Oops!
Starbreaker – Amanda Bouchet I have been patiently awaiting the chance to read this book since I read Nightchaser. I know for sure I’ll be adding this book to my collection, but it’s amazing I get to read it early!!
More Than Maybe – Erin Hahn A contemporary book that includes, music, blogs and what seems to be a fun love story! Sounds like a book I definitely need to add to my life! This releases in May and I’m excited!
The Mall – Megan McCafferty Growing up in the ’90s was a lot of fun and this book takes place in those years. I was still really young when this book takes place, but it seems like one I really need to read. I’ve been excited about it since I knew it was coming!
The Extraordinaries – T.J. Klune This book is pitched as Fangirl meets Steelheart. Fangirl is one of my favorite books, so I didn’t even read anymore, haha. Fanfiction and superheroes are mentioned in the synopsis, so it seems like something for me!
Girl, Serpent, Thorn – Melissa Bashardoust The cover is the first thing that caught my eye. I think the story sounds interesting, but have seen mixed reviews so far. It will be interesting to see if I like it or not!
Mayhem – Estelle Laure Mayhem is pitched as a YA feminist mash up inspired by The Lost Boys and The Craft. I have to say this sounds like a really interesting combination. It sounds like it’s going to be an intense story, but so good.
Lobizona – Romina Garber In all honesty, I have mixed feelings about this one. Lobizona seems really interesting, but I’m not sure if it’s for me? We’ll just have to give it a go and find out. Another book releasing in May (it’s going to be a busy month for books).
Besides all those books from Netgalley, I got two books from authors. Penalty Box by Kayla Tirrell is one of them. At the moment of typing this I’m just about done. It’s such a fun sports romance! I definietly recommend it.
Also, Lauren Blakely is releasing The Decadent Gift next week and I received an ARC to read and review. I always enjoy her books and they’re fast and fun reads!!
One good thing about everything going on is that I’ve definitely been doing good with reading, haha. Since the last Royal Update I’ve finished Heartstopper Vol. 2, Devil Side, The Prophecy, The Upside of Falling, The Perdurables, Runaway Road, Magic Unleashed, Don’t Check Out This Book, Be Not Far From Me, Meet Me at Midnight, Dance of Despair, Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating and Unrequited!
As many of you probably know, Scribd has made its collection free for a month. I’ve been taking advantage of that and have read quite a few graphic novels. I also bought Brave Chef Brianna and have already sat down to read it! I read Giant Days Vol. 1, The Backstagers Vol. 1 andLumberjanes Vol.1.
At the moment I’m just about done with Elantris! It took me awhile, but I’m almost there. I’m also reading House of Earth and Blood, Giant Days Vol. 2, Penalty Box and All Your Trusted Secrets.
I also hope to start my reread of Wicked Saints (which I haven’t gotten to yet), The Decadent Gift and maybe start a reread of Fangirl!
If I’m honest, I really haven’t been keeping track of most bookish news lately. There are a couple of cover reveals though. I also have a book announcement and pre-order deal available at the moment!
For the second time in a row, I can actually say that I got something that wasn’t a abook! I didn’t buy this myself, but it was a late Christmas gift. I’ve been wanting a new bag for going back and forth to work. My bag was really showing it was used a lot and just falling part and if I’m honest, wasn’t big enough. So my mother got this for me when we were shopping last month. I love it!
Last week I woke up during the middle of the night one night and could not fall back asleep. And what do you do when you can’t sleep? Turn on Netflix, haha! I’ve heard great things about Sex Education and decided to give it a go. I ended up loving it and now the boyfriend and I are almost done with the first season. I highly recommend this one!
When looking for something fun and positive in the world, I think of Disney. Frozen 2 was added to Disney+ this week and I couldn’t help watching! I really enjoyed it and have now been listening to the soundtrack.
So that’s it for me this week! I know the world is crazy right now and hopefully we get a bit more normalcy soon. How have you been? Read anything interesting? Let me know in the comments!
