Royal Update #8

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

These past two weeks haven’t been very exciting. Mostly I’ve had my normal routine of work. After the holidays everything has finally gotten back to normal. I went to lunch with my mom and we had some amazing smoothies though. They’re definitely something I’ll be getting again!

I think I’ve mentioned it before that our cat Shasta has been having some issues. At first we thought she was biting at her paws because of stress, but with everything back to normal and it happening again, we’re not sure anymore. The vet thinks an allergy, so she’s on a special diet the next 8 weeks to see if it’s the food. Apparently cats can develop allergies to stuff they weren’t allergic to at first, so this will be interesting. This also meant we had to put the shirt on again to treat her paw. I feel bad, but look how cute she looks!

The only other fun thing that happened was our monthly game night. It was nice and relaxing and I played two games I wasn’t familiar with. We started out with Shit Happens. That was really fun trying to think of where something would be on a scale of 100. It was a game filled with laughter!

The other game we played was Ravine. You bascially end up stranded somewhere and have to survive by collecting food and items for shelter. Each night things happen and you have to try and survive. Also, if you end the night with only one heart left, you draw a madness card. This can mean you can’t talk or move until the next day (and other funny things). We survived, but it was close!

I’ve been a good girl the past couple of weeks and only added three ARCs to my Kindle the past two weeks! One of them I wished for quite awhile ago on Netgalley and totally forgot about, haha. Dramatically Ever After was released a couple of years ago, but I enjoyed the first book!

Incendiary is another book I grabbed from Netgalley yesterday. I’ve heard great things about Zoraida Cordova’s books and it sounds really good. This book releases in April, so I have some time before I need to read it!

After reading and loving Gypsy King, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to read and review the sequel, Riven Knight. The author sent this opportunity to her master blogger list and I’m excited!

My reading has been going really well and I hope to stick to it! Since my last royal update I finished a few books!

As you can see, I am on a roll. The next couple of weeks there are quite a few books I want to read, including doing a beta read for a friend’s second book. I’m really excited about that. I’m still working on The Final Empire, Blood Heir, Riven Knight and listening to The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza (I’ll finish this tomorrow).

I’ll also be starting these this week as well. I’m being pretty ambitious, but I am excited to get started with all of these. Have you read any of them?

There wasn’t a lot of bookish news lately. Unless I missed it, haha. I have two things to talk about this week though. There was a cover reveal for the sequel to Bringing Down the Duke. I love the colors and design. I still need to read the first book, but this cover already makes me want the second one.

Besides that, we got paperback news for The Red Scrolls of Magic. I just recently listened to the audiobook. Magnus is favorite character of mine, but I did not like the cover for this book at all. Just a couple of days ago the US paperback was announced and the cover is so much better. This one I can add to my shelf!

I’m going to be boring again, haha. Maybe I just need to skip this one on my Royal Updates. I didn’t buy anything the past two weeks. That’s a good thing I guess, haha.

I haven’t watched a lot of shows lately. There’s been a lot of reading going on, haha. The past couple of weeks I’ve been getting caught up with Nancy Drew and started the new season of Criminal Minds. I’m still sad this is the last season.

My songs on repeat is the same as it was the last time. I’ve really only been listening to Home Free. We’re going to the concert in about a month and I need to be ready. Also, the songs are good, so I’ve been enjoying myself.

So this has been my past two weeks! Nothing really special, but I’ve been good. How are you doing? Let me know in the comments!
