Royal Update #6

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

These past two weeks have actually been pretty busy. Of course, we celebrated Christmas and New Year. I work retail, so my days leading up to both of these holidays were pretty busy! Luckily, I had five days off after Christmas Eve. On Christmas day I opened gifts with my mom and boyfriend. We definitely spoiled each other and I’m grateful that we can. Other than that, we had a pretty relaxing day and ate an amazing dinner together.

The 26th is actually still Christmas here, kind of like boxing day. It was also my boyfriend’s birthday, so we had his parents and grandparents over for some cake and coffee. The afternoon was a lot of fun and it’s great seeing everyone. The next day my boyfriend and I went to a bookstore near us with a friend of ours. Of course, we didn’t leave the bookstore without books, haha. I really need to start thinking of how to create extra shelf space.

Before I knew it, it was New Year’s Eve.The past few years we’ve had friends over, but with everything being so busy, we decided to have a quiet night. I spent the evening with my mom and boyfriend. We played a few card games and watched some shows together. It was funny, we actually all had a hard time making it to midnight, haha. I still can’t believe it’s January already! Hopefully it’s an amazing year!

I ended up adding a few ARCs to my collection in the last couple of weeks. I added a total of 8 ARCs to my Kindle. This will be slowing down though. I really plan on reading more from my own shelves, so I won’t be typing as much for this, haha.

Come Back for Me – Corinne Michaels  I’ve actually already read this one and it’s so good!! Corinne Michaels is amazing at hitting you in all the feels. My review will be up tomorrow.

Kingdom of Spirits – Nina Walker I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Crown of Dragons. So when the author was looking for reviewers for the sequel, I couldn’t say no. My review will be up later this month!

Warrior Blue – Kelsey Kingsley Whenever I get a book by this author, I know it’s going to hit me in all the feels. She has such a way with words. All of the teasers I’ve seen, have made me so excited for Warrior Blue.

Crossing the Line – Kendall Ryan The Hot Jocks series is so much fun and I’ve been looking forward to Crossing the Line. These are fast and fun reads and just what I need every once in awhile!

Can We Pretend? – Pearl Khatri This author approached me on Instagram to see if I wanted to read and review her next release. It sounded interesting and I do like supporting new authors. This is a February release, so I’ll be reading it soon!

Praying for Rain – BB Easton A friend talked about this trilogy when there were sign ups for the sequel to Praying for Rain. They’re not that big, so I figured I could squeeze them in. I’m really curious. I’ll be reading this one soon, so I can dive into the sequel later this month.

Sex and Other Shiny Objects – Lauren Blakely For me this is still a funny title for a book, but she actually mentioned it in the first book of this series. I loved Asking for a Friend, so I can’t wait to dive in.

Always Mine – Kennedy Fox This is the fifth book in the Roommate Duet and the first in the Liam & Madelyn duet. I’ve read about these characters for the past four books and have been waiting for their story. Kennedy Fox always leaves you wanting more though, so I’ll be anxiously awaiting the sequel!

My reading year is off to a good start! It’s only the fifth as I’m typing this and I’ve finished three books and two novellas! Hopefully I can keep my reading going like this.

As you just saw, I have quite a few ARCs I need to get done! On top of that, I have two buddy reads going on. I’m reading The Final Empire (first Mistborn book) with Isabelle and I’m starting The Return with a friend today. As for what ARCs I’ll start with will be Always Mine and Warrior Blue! And at the moment, I’m listening to The Red Scrolls of Magic.

This week is another week that’s a bit boring when it comes to bookish news. I  think with the holidays and New Year that it’s been a bit quiet. We did get a cover reveal for the third book in the Cassidy Blake trilogy. I just got the sequel for Christmas, so this definitely makes me want to pick it up soon. We have to wait until September, but look at this cover!

I really should just leave this one out, haha. Once again, I haven’t bought anything to add to this shop log.

After watching Christmas movies non stop, I’ve been starting to get back into my shows again. I recently watched some episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, The Resident, A Million Little Things and Law & Order SVU.

I am having withdrawls from listening to Christmas music for so long, haha. My boyfriend recently discovered the acapella group Home Free and I’ve been listening to them. I’m normally not a big country fan, but I’m enjoying their music.

That’s my royal update for now! How have you been? Have you read, seen or listened to anything I need to know about? Let me know in the comments!
