Every month we add books to our collections, but we’ve been curious about how much of them we actually read. In Looking Back at Our Bookhauls, we take a look at our hauls from the year before. What have we read and what do we still need to read? We hope this motivates us more to get to our unread books and maybe buy a little less. Even if this doesn’t always work, haha. Today we’re looking back at our book hauls from October 2018.
I’m always afraid to write these posts, haha. After writing them, I want to read all of the books I haven’t gotten to yet. Seeing how I end up reading like five books at a time, it’s definitely a possibility! In October 2018 I bought two books and received two, which isn’t bad at all! But did I read them?!?
Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J Maas
I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read this one yet. After going to the bookstore on release day, you’d think I would have finished it by now. Throne of Glass is a favorite of mine and part of me doesn’t want it to end. I have read the first 200+ pages though. It’s on my list to finish before the end of the year!
The Cheerleaders – Kara Thomas
After loving Little Monsters, I was excited about this one! Yet again, it’s a book I haven’t gotten around to reading. So many books and so little time! I am determined to get this one done though. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about The Cheerleaders!
All These Beautiful Strangers – Elizabeth Klehfoth
Another book I wanted to read around Halloween this year and didn’t manage to. All These Beautiful Strangers still sounds really good and this book is really pretty!
Crazy Rich Asains – Kevin Kwan
A friend of mine is obsessed with this series, so I’m afraid to say I haven’t read it yet, haha. I need to read it though, because I still haven’t seen the movie either. My goal will be to read this before the sequel is filmed, haha.

I only bought 5 books last year in October! So much better than this year haha. I’m pretty okay with the outcome this month actually. There is a possibility I’ll pick one of the unread ones up pretty soon as I have the next in the series on preorder. But we’ll see how it goes 😉
Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas
I’ve got two copies of Kingdom of Ash, and I would love to own the whole series in both editions actually. For now I have to admit I don’t even own the complete series… I’m missing the first two books haha, but someday I will fix that! Unlike Candyce, I did read this one right away and I have been bugging her ever since haha. This is one of my absolute favorite series ever and I bawled my eyes out during some of the scenes. I might do a reread and annotate my books in the next year or so, which would make for a perfect moment to buy the rest of the books haha.
The Caged Queen – Kristen Ciccarelli
I’m a bit ashamed I haven’t read this one yet, as I did preorder it! The author is such a sweet human and I love supporting her. Especially since she does international preorder incentives! So I also preordered the last book in the series haha. I might pick this one up this month so I can finish the series. The first book was very enjoyable but since we follow a different MC in this one I have been a bit hesitant in picking it up.
What If It’s Us – Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
I actually read this one very recently! The audiobook was on Storytel and after talking about it in a TTT, I decided to just go for it. Right after I bought this, quite some negative reviews popped up and I was about to unhaul this one actually! But, I listened to the audiobook and I’m very happy I did so. For me it was an enjoyable book and I will for sure pick up whatever these authors write next.
All the Beautiful Strangers
I haven’t picked this one up, as I just haven’t really been in the mood for it. October would’ve been the perfect month but I hardly read anything so it will have to wait. I do still think the book looks super cool and it will also make for a great buddy read for Candyce and me haha. I have to say I don’t prioritize this one so it might be a while before I actually read it.

The next couple of Looking Back at Our Bookhauls will be interesting, because Christmas 2018 is almost next! Have you read any of these books? We’d love to know if you have!
