I went looking for a fun tag for today and found one on the Book Nut. The Taylor Swift Book Tag seemed like a fitting tag to do, with her new song being released recently. I really like the new song and love the videoclip! So today we’ll focus on her songs for this tag. Let’s get into it!
1. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: Pick a book or series that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then wanted to break up with.
I adored Red Queen and was sure it would be a new favorite series. But then I picked up the second book, Glass Sword and I was really disappointed by it. I have since bought book 3 and book 4 but I just can’t seem to actually start reading them. After being so bored and annoyed by Glass Sword I’m just scared King’s Cage and War Storm won’t be able to live up to my Red Queen expectations. At some point I will read them, fingers crossed I’ll like them!
2. Red: Pick a book with a RED cover.
A recent favorite of mine has a red cover; Wundersmith by Jessica Townsend! I finally picked up Nevermoor last week and immediately read the sequel Wundersmith after finishing the first one. What an amazing series! These MG books are so enjoyable and I would recommend them to everyone <3
3. The Best Day : Pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic.
The Hunger Games makes me feel pretty nostalgic. That series was my way into YA books. After reading and loving The Hunger Games I wanted more more more. I searched the internet for recommendations and discovered the world of bookish blogs. So apart from introducing me to YA books, they also got me into blogging. I guess I’m pretty grateful for the day I picked up the first one in a bookstore.
4. Love Story : Pick a book with forbidden love.
Lady Midnight and the rest of the Dark Artifices books have quite some forbidden loves in it! I feel like that’s pretty much always a theme in Cassandra Clare’s books but her latest series had a lot in it. The characters in the Dark Artifices series were probably my favorites and I can’t wait for the Wicked Powers trilogy!
5. I Knew You Were Trouble: Pick a book with a bad character you couldn’t help but love.
I love the ‘villain’ in the Illuminae files series! Especially in the first book I think this character is considered to be the villain (I won’t say a name in case of SPOILERS) but I really love the character and don’t view him/her/they as a villain. I think the authors did an amazing job in creating this character!
6. Innocent: Pick a book that someone ruined the ending for.
I’m sure this happened at some point but I don’t remember it! There have been times were I spoiled myself but looking at the end page for my page count or by reading reviews and guess what happened based on people’s reactions. But I wouldn’t say those endings were ruined!
7. Everything Has Changed: Pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development.
Why is this such a hard question for me?! This should be a pretty easy one but nothing comes to mind. After thinking about is long and hard I’ve decided to just skip this one haha. Sorry!
8. You Belong With Me: Pick your most anticipated book release.
That’s probably Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake. I can’t wait to find out how it all ends for Kat, Mirabella and my fave Arsinoe. These books have been great and while people find them slow paced, I personally devoured them in no time!
9. Forever and Always: Pick your favorite book couple.
This is basically impossible! I think I will go with Lara Jean and Peter K but this is HARD. There are so many couples I love. But Lara Jean and Peter are one of my absolute favorite couples ever and I’m so excited for the second movie! I just can’t wait to see the rest of the story play out. And I might need to do another reread before that movie comes out.
10. Come Back, Be Here: Pick the book you would least like to lend out, for fear of missing it too much.
Haha, I don’t really have issues with this to be honest. I’ll lend you almost any book I own, but I guess my signed books are pretty special to me. Especially the personalized ones! I guess I’d rather keep those close because it would be so sad if something would happen to those.
11. Teardrops On My Guitar: Pick a book that made you cry a lot.
Eliza and her Monsters was a real tear jerker for me. It’s also a book I love so so much and if you’re looking for a contemporary read, look no further! I wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did, but Eliza’s story was quite relatable and just overall amazing.
12. Shake It Off : Pick a book that you love so much, you just shake off the haters.
I know a lot of people dislike the Throne of Glass series and I can see the flaws in that series. But it will forever be a favorite series of mine and will reread everything pretty soon I think!
And that was my tag for today! Do you love Taylor Swift? And what book would you have picked for the character development? Let me know in the comments!
