We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books I Need to Read to Watch Their Movies Part 2. The topic is actually books I refuse to let anyone touch. I don’t know what it is that doesn’t appeal to me, but I decided to add a part 2 to the topic Isabelle did last week!
I am definitely a person who likes to read the books before seeing movies and there are many books on my list. Let’s take a look!
1 – Crazy Rich Asians – Kevin Kwan A friend of mine is a big fan of this trilogy and I’m really curious. I’ve heard amazing things about the book adaptation. I own the first book of the trilogy. Hopefully I can find time this summer so I can finally watch the movie.
2 – Five Feet Apart – Rachael Lippincott Many people I know that have read this book say to have tissues ready. I have a feeling it’s going to be a bit like A Fault in Our Stars. I cried so much when I saw that movie in the theater. Everyone in the room was sniffling, haha. ANways, I got this one for Christmas last year, so another one on top of my TBR.
3 – Words on Bathroom Walls – Julia Walton I’m not sure if this one has only been optioned or is already in production, but I think it sounds really interesting. Schizophrenia isn’t something in books very often and after reading Made You Up, I’ve been hoping for more YA books that deal with this subject.
4 – The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas I know, I should be ashamed I haven’t read this one yet. The Hate U Give is going to be on that will break me, but I really want to read it. I bought a couple last year when I went to London. A couple of months ago I read On the Come Up and loved, so I know this one will be amazing as well.
5 – Before I Fall – Lauren Oliver This is a book I actually planned on reading a few years ago. I bought the e-book and was all set for a readalong. To be honest, I have no idea why I didn’t end up participating. There have been some mixed reviews, but I do want to give it a go!
6 The Darkest Minds – Alexandra Bracken I kind of missed the hype around this series a few years ago. A few friends enjoyed the books and said the movie wasn’t that bad. This seems more of a series to read in the Fall, so I have to see when I can make time for the first book.
7 – The Kissing Booth – Beth Reekles Netflix is an amazing place to find fun movies and this one was added months ago. At first, I didn’t know that the movie was based on a book. The book has gotten some mixed reviews, but I know quite a few people really enjoyed the movie.
8 – Dumplin’ – Julie Murphy Another book I actually read a few chapters of a few years ago. I got distracted by another book at the time, but still really want to read it. Dumplin’ is also finally available on Netflix here which means I need to get reading!
The next two have only been optioned for movies, but still definitely books I need to read before a movie is available!
9 – What if It’s Us – Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera Both of these authors have written amazing books and there hasn’t been one yet I haven’t liked. This one has had some mixed reviews, but I try not to be influenced by that. I received this one as a gift for Christmas, so I can give it a go when I have time.
10 Opposite of Always – Justin A. Reynolds This book was actually added to our anticipated releases post for March. I like the concept of this book. Going back to the day a character dies over and over again. Sotires where characters go back in time and make decisions are always something that interests me. I wonder how the movie will turn out.
These are my ten books to read before their movies! Have you read any of them? What did you think? Also feel free to leave your link in the comments. I would love to see what books you won’t let anyone touch!
