Bookish Item | 19 Books I Want to Read Before 2019

It was brought to my attention that we have only 19 weeks left in this year. That means it’s the perfect time to talk about the 19 books I want to read before 2019! The books will be a mix of books that still need to be released and ones I already own. Since there are 19 of them I won’t talk about them in too much detail. Let’s get into it.

1. Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas

Did you expect any other book in this spot? I can’t wait to finally get my hands on this book and read the conclusion to one of my favorite fantasy series ever. The book is going to be really thick I believe and that sounds like music to my ears.

2. Two Dark Reigns – Kendare Blake

Three Dark Crowns seems to be a book people either love or hate and I’m firmly in the love camp. I also really enjoyed One Dark Throne and I’m extremely excited to continue the journey with Two Dark Reigns. The ending of the last book had a couple of great twists and I think this is going to be one hell of a ride.

3. Wildcard – Marie Lu

I bought Warcross last year after seeing that gorgeous naked hardback. But to be honest, I never expected to like the book as much as I did. Turns out I was a big fan of the book and after that ending I’m excited to read Wildcard.

4. The Caged Queen – Kristen Ciccarrelli

We met Kristen last year and she was so sweet! Once I had my book I started reading it and I highly enjoyed it. This is another one with an ending that leaves you wanted MORE. I do believe this one follows a different main character so that will be interesting.

5. Vengeful – V.E. Schwab

I adore V.E. Schwab’s books and while Vicious wasn’t my favorite out of them I do really look forward to reading Vengeful. Illumicrate is doing a special edition box for this book and I just couldn’t resist it haha. So I’ll be getting this one in a box.

6. Fables. vol 2 – Bill Willingham

After highly enjoying Fables vol 1 this year I recently bought volume 2. I’m very excited to dive back into this fun world and read about all our favorite fairytale characters.

7. Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi

I’m actually pretty far into this book already, I started to audiobook quite a while ago but I finally picked it back up. Hopefully I’ll finish it this week. I’m really enjoying it and can see why it’s such a hype.

8. To Kill a Kingdom – Alexandra Christo

Another book I already started, however I’m not that far into this one yet. So far it’s not grabbing me as I thought it would but I do enjoy the world and the characters. I’m going to give it a bit longer before deciding what I think of it.

9. A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir

I really want to read this one! But I read the first two books in Dutch so I’m waiting for the translated version. It’s supposed to come out in November so that’s right on time for me to read it and be destroyed by it before 2019.

10. The Defiant – Lesley Livingston

The Valiant was such a fun and surprising read last year! We met Lesley and she was hilarious. I already own The Defiant but unfortunately I haven’t picked it up yet… It’s my plan to do so soon!

11. Hunting Prince Dracula – Kerri Maniscalco

Stalking Jack the Ripper was a bit of a disappointment for me to be honest and I wasn’t planning on continuing the series. But than the title for the third book was announced and I really wanted to read that book haha. So I got the second one and I hope I’ll enjoy that one a bit more.

12. Legendary – Stephanie Garber

Caraval was another book that disappointed me a little bit, probably because of my extremely high expectations. I heard a lot of people say that they liked Legendary better and the fact that it has a different main character convinced me to buy the book and give the series another change.

13. Night Film – Marisha Pessl

Another one I’m already reading. I’m about half way through the audiobook and one of my goals these last months is to finish books I already started. It would be nice to start with a clean slate so to speak in January so I need to pick this back up.

14. Daughter of the Siren Queen – Tricia Levenseller

Daughter of the Pirate King was surprisingly amazing and I’m not sure why I haven’t picked up the sequel yet! I already owned this one and it will be nice to complete a series haha. From what I read in reviews people really enjoyed this one again so I need to get on this soon.

15. A Closed and Common Orbit – Becky Chambers

One of the books I finally finished was Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and I really liked it. I also own the second book so I would like to read that one soon. It’s sad that we’ll have different main characters as I really loved the characters in the first book. We’ll see if the new ones will be as lovable.

16. Nevermoor – Jessica Townsend

Aaaaah, why is this still unread? Everyone, and I mean everyone seems to love this book and I’m pretty sure it’s one I will love as well. The synopsis sounds right up my alley, the cover is gorgeous and the second book is right around the corner. I need to pick it up SOON.

17. Reign of the Fallen – Sarah Marsh Glen

Another one I have started already haha. I put it down in favor of another book but I definitely want to read the rest of it. The world in this book is really unique and Candyce enjoyed the story. Book 2 already has a cover and title and both look amazing so, I know what to do 😉

18. Wonder Woman: Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo

I love most of Leigh’s books, I love Wonder Woman, my friends all loved this book –> obviously I haven’t read it yet haha. This book has been staring at me forever and I need to read it!

19. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas

I’m a bit ashamed I haven’t read this one yet, I know it’s a really important book and I do own it. Contemporary is not favorite genre, or second or third, so that’s probably why but I do really want the read it. Especially with the movie coming out soon I hope to start this one soon!

Did you read any of these? Are you looking forward to some of the upcoming releases? And which book do you absolutely need to read before 2019? Let me know in the comments!
