We have been having fun with these Top Ten Tuesdays, so we decide we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Starting this January Top Ten Tuesday will be hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s list is about books that have been on my TBR forever but I still haven’t read yet! Super easy but also confronting 😉
I decided to go with the books that have actually been on my shelves the longest. I recently started using an amazing spreadsheet to track my reading, purchases, and TBR so at one glance I knew my list for today! I’ll work my way down to the book that has been on my TBR the longest.
Okay, so the first one is a bit harder than expected haha, I bought a couple of books on the same day and they were number 10 & 11 on my TBR so I decided to include both!
#10.1 The Pig That Wants To Be Eaten – Julian Baggini
On my TBR since: January 2015
This is a non-fiction book about 100 philosophical puzzles. I did start reading it and really enjoyed it. However I haven’t been able to finish any non fiction books in forever! As you might have read that is one of my reading goals for the year so hopefully this one will go in the read pile soon 😉
#10.2 Quiet – Susan Cain
On my TBR since: January 2015
This is another non-fiction book, and I also already started it haha. It’s all about introverts in this world that seems to be suited more towards extraverts. As I’m an introvert myself I loved reading about other introverts, about research etc. I actually bought another introverts book this summer (also started but not finished reading it…).
#9 Pop Goes the Weasel – M.J. Arlidge
On my TBR since: December 2014
When I bought this book I didn’t realize it was the second in a series until I got home. I did since buy and read the first book so I don’t have any excuses as to way it’s still unread. I enjoyed the first book a lot and there have been quite some releases in the series as well so I really should get on this one.
#8 The Fortune Hunter – Daisy Goodwin
On my TBR since: December 2014
To be honest, I’m not sure if I will read this one anytime soon. It’s about Sisi, her hunting in England and a love interest. While I really love Sisi, the reason I bought the book in the first place, I never really felt the need to pick it up and I saw some negative reviews on Goodreads. I might still want to pick it up at some point so it stays for now 😉
#7 Will Grayson, Will Grayson – John Green & David Levithan
On my TBR since: October 2014
I thought the concept was interesting and liked the cover so picked up this book forever ago. I also read a bit in it but just weren’t that interested. I do still want to finish it, mostly because I hate not finishing books 😉 I also read some really great reviews and would love to discover what people liked so much. So at some point I will push through.
#6 I’ll Give You the Sun – Jandy Nelson
On my TBR since: October 2014
I loved the cover of this one and it also has sprayed edges <3 I really planned on reading this one soonish but then it got extremely hyped in the Netherlands and that somehow made me hate it before even reading it. I figured I wouldn’t give it a fair chance and probably wouldn’t like as long as I felt that way so I waited, and waited, and waited haha. I do still want to read it and find out if it was worth the hype.
#5 Three Seconds – Anders Roslund
On my TBR since: October 2014
I got this one at Poundland and for just 1 pound I just couldn’t pass up this hardcover. At home I realized it was actually #5 in a series, oops haha. This seems to happen to me more often than I care to admit…. I do think I’ll be able to read it without reading the rest of the series and might do just that. I haven’t been reading that many thrillers / detectives lately but hope to get back to them soon.
#4 Before I Go To Sleep – S.J. Watson
On my TBR since: October 2014
For this one goes the same as the previous one, I just haven’t been reading that many thrillers lately. Although one might argue oct 2014 is not ‘lately’ haha. I still have a huge pile of thrillers and detectives to read and I’m super into them so probably will read a couple of them soonish.
#3 Fire Storm – Lauren St. John
On my TBR since: October 2014
Andddd another one that is actually part of a series (and NOT number 1 in it haha). This one has a horse on the cover, was Buy One Get One Half Price and had red sprayed edges. Needless to say I NEEDED it. However, now I need book 1&2 first and they just never have been a priority when buying books. At same point I will get them and then get to this one.
#2 Reckless – Cornelia Funke
On my TBR since: October 2014
I loved loved loved Cornelia Funke’s other series as a child so when I came across Reckless ( with a Buy One Get One Half Price sticker…) I knew I had to get it. I once again did start reading it but just wasn’t that interested in it at that time. I still plan on reading it and hope to love it as much as I love her other series. That concept was so unique and the books had great characters. I hope to find that magic in Reckless <3
#1 Cop Town – Karin Slaughter
On my TBR since: June 2014
I’m a bit ashamed for this one! Karin Slaughter is one of my all time favorites, definitely my favorite thriller author. I love her Sara and Will series so much. I actually won this book on a Goodreads giveaway, my first ever. I accidentally spilled a drink on it and it looks horrible… One of the reasons I never really got into reading it. I did start it (as I did half this list) but put it down again and never picked it back up.
Have you read any of these books? Should I pick them up sooner or just get rid of them?
I have read a few on your list- Will Grayson, Will Grayson, I’ll Give You the Sun and Cop Town. Hope you find the time for all these books and more, but the struggle with the TBR is real!
I still can’t believe Cop Town has been on my TBR this long! Really hope to put a dent in my TBR this year
I know no one else who reads Lauren St John books! I hope you enjoy Fire Storm 🙂

Thank you! They got translated to Dutch so I know of a couple Dutch bloggers that enjoyed them. Hope to get to it soon
Oh that’s awesome!
I`ve heard so many amazing things about “I`ll give you the sun”, but I have not read it yet. Good luck with your plans.

Thank you! I’ve heard a lot of good things about it as well 🙂
Great list! I really need to read I’ll Give You The Sun!
