TTT #437 | Fall-Themed Books

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books that Bring Me Happy Memories, but that topic doesn’t really do it for me. So I figured I would take a look at last weeks topic; a fall-themed freebie. I did already do a fall TBR, but talking about more fall books is always a good idea! Let’s jump in!

1. Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil – V.E. Schwab

Something about vampires feels like fall to me! This book is very fall and I really enjoyed it. I would say a lot of V.E. Schwab books are fall book, but I couldn’t do a whole list just of her books haha.

2. Assistant to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer

Like vampires, villains also feel like fall haha. This is a much lighter fall read though, as this is mostly a lot of fun and I laughed out loud while reading this. If you enjoy this one, you can read the rest of the series right after!

3. Only a Monster – Vanessa Len

I love this series so much and no one talks about it! It’s about time traveling monsters and it’s so good. I would for sure recommend reading this during the fall, I think the vibes fit very well.

4. All of Us Villains – Amanda Foody & C.L. Herman

More villains! This also has a bit of a tournament and ‘witches’ or people with magic. That all feels very much like fall to me. I also think this cover has some fall vibes with the black and the red.

5. A Deadly Education – Naomi Novik

‘Witches’ and a boarding school, perfect for fall. With the start of the school year just before September (or at least here in the Netherlands) I feel like books about schools are fall books. Especially when they’re boarding schools. This is a pretty brutal school and this series is one of my favorites.

6. Ninth House – Leigh Bardugo

Another school book, although this one takes place at a university. Dark academia screams fall to me and the themes in this book only add to that fall vibe. The third book just released, so it’s the perfect time to start this one.

7. The Turn of the Key – Ruth Ware

A good mystery/thriller is always a good idea during fall and this is one I really enjoyed. It’s inspired by the taming of the screw I believe and I really liked the twists in it.

8. Small Spaces – Katherine Arden

This is the first book in a MG series with 4 books that all take place during a different season. Small Spaces is taking place during fall and there is a kind of a haunted pumpkin patch, doesn’t get much more fall than that in my opinion!

9. City of Ghosts – V.E. Schwab

Ghosts are another element that fit with fall in my opinion. This book takes place in Edinburgh and I loved it a lot! There are 3 books in the series and I truly wish we had gotten more books.

10. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – Stuart Turton

One more mystery/thriller to end the list with. This is such a cool book with a concept I have never read before or after this one. The main character has to solve a murder, but the day resets every time and he gets put into another person at every reset. I think this one is really well done and I hope to come across a similar book at some point.

That was my list of fall-themed books! This is such a personal feeling sometimes haha, but I hope to see my vision for the list! Which books do you think have a fall vibe? Let me know down below!
