We have a lot of eARC’s and we want to promote them a little bit more. So we decided to do some more Bookish Beginnings On Friday. Today I wanted to share the beginning of Eternity in Three Acts by Ann Sei Lin. This is a February 2027 release and I’m really excited about it. Let’s see how I feel after reading the beginning of the book!
A dying god. A collapsing world. The fate of time lies in their hands.
The god of time is dying, and the world is unravelling with his every, laboured breath. There is only one solution: a new god, to replace the old. An idea so blasphemous it is punishable by death.
Shion is the chosen candidate. He has known no life but the one chosen for him. At once a sacrificial lamb and divine successor, he has no time for dreams, no space for love. Then he meets Junyu, a charismatic player carving out a new life on the stage. Once a Ferrier, carrying sacrifices across the sea, he is the only one who can help Shion reach his goal.
But first the two men will have to brave time-warped landscapes, wild beast, and perilous seas, all the while evading the Hourglass Temple’s notice. And as they journey, Junyu awakens something in Shion he was never meant to feel.
To save the world, Shion must die, and Junyu must bear the burden of letting him go. It can only end in tragedy . . .
As the lights fade, Junyu blinks at the crowd. A sea of unfamiliar faces stares back at him, enraptured, expectant. He opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. He can’t remember his lines. He can’t remember anything.
Okay, this started very different from what I was expecting haha. I did read the rest of the first chapter and it did manage to intrigue me. Something is going on with time and it sounds really interesting. I immediately wanted to keep on reading!
From the synopsis it sounds like this will be a heartbreaking book and it supposedly has a lot of yearning as well. I love some good yearning and I’m excited to see these main characters together. This might be the next big thing in fantasy and I hope to read my eARC soon!
