I was a little late to the party, but at the moment I’m still so obsessed. After watching Heated Rivalry a couple of times, I decided I wanted to read the books. And after reading both of Shane and Ilya’s books I wanted to read the rest of the series as well. I just finished the last one and thought it would be fun to rank them! So let’s jump in and take a look at my ranking.

6. Common Goal
While I liked Eric and Kyle, their story was my least favorite. I think they are a cute couple, but the lack of actual communication was a bit annoying. Things could’ve been resolved easily if they talked about their feelings just a little bit. One of the things I loved (as I do in every single one of these) was Ilya showing up. I giggle, kick my feet, laugh out loud, scream, etc whenever he’s on the page haha.

5. Game Changer
This was the first book in the series and I think it’s a fine book! Nothing super special, but still a fun and enjoyable read. I don’t have that much to say about this one to be honest. The characters were nice, I loved our first introduction to Ilya, the story was predictable but totally fine. I just had to reconcile the descriptions of the looks of the characters with the tv show haha.

4. Tough Guy
For a lot of the book I thought this was going to be my favourite non Shane & Ilya book, but I really didn’t like the last minute conflict. Although I loved the scene with Ilya, that made me cry haha. I really appreciated that much of this book was about mental health and Ryan Price became one of my favorite characters in this universe. The conversations about sex were pretty different in this one compared to some of the others and I really liked that. All of these characters are different and have different needs and preferences which is good and refreshing to read about in my opinion. Another aspect I really liked was the fact that both Fabian and Ryan were in their early thirties, as a single girlie in her thirties it’s great to see someone your own age find their big love.

3. Role Model
I think this is my favorite non Shane & Ilya book! It was an interesting experience, having already read The Long Game before diving into this one as they mostly take place simultaneously. I didn’t mind the reverse order at all, I think it made me appreciate some of the scenes even more. And this one was pretty heavy on all the Ilya content, a big plus in my book haha. Troy inner monologue was really interesting and I liked seeing how he wanted to better himself. I was already biased since I read The Long Game before I read Tough Guy and Role Model, if I had read Tough Guy first I might have a different opinion on Troy before going into this one. Either way, I think his ‘redemption arc’ was well done!

2. Heated Rivalry
This is were it all started for me. After watching the show a couple of times I decided I needed to read the book it was based on. And of course I loved it! I’m an enemies to lovers girlie through and through so this was right up my alley. Although I never really saw them as enemies. I think they loathed themselves more than they ever did the other person. And I’m so amazed at how it was all translated to the screen, the producer and the actors did such an amazing job. They really embodied these characters and we are all so lucky to have witnessed this in my opinion. I loved reading about them falling in love, realising they were in love and telling each other they were in love!

1. The Long Game
My absolute number one! I have cried a lot of tears while reading this one! While this is a romance series, I would say the number one thing these books are about is mental health. And that is definitely the case with The Long Game. I think the mental health struggles are very well represented in this book and while it was hard to read at times, it was also really important and well done. These men have a very special place in my heart and I wish I could give them the biggest hug, because they truly deserve it. They are really good people and so much of what happens to them is undeserved. I’m looking forward to Unrivaled and I hope everyone is getting what they deserve, whether that’s good or bad ;).
And that was my ranking of the Game Changers series! Have you read these books? What do you think of my ranking? And what would your ranking be? I would love to hear from you down below!

Totally get that feeling! It’s amazing how a show can really make you want to dive into the source material.
