TTT #406 | Cozy Reads

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Cozy/Atmospheric Reads. It’s actually a harder topic than you’d expect haha. But I did manage to put together a list of cozy reads. I decided to go for books on my TBR, so I have a list of books to choose from this cozy season! So let’s dive in!

1. Legends & Lattes – Travis Baldree

How could I not start the list with this one? I think a lot of readers think of this book when they think of cozy books, especially cozy fantasy. This has been on my immediate TBR for about a year now and I hope to actually pick it up soon.

2. Apprentice to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer

This might not seem like a cozy read to you, but I think it is! The first book was pretty low stakes overall, or at least the stakes felt low. It was also extremely enjoyable and I was just laughing out loud the whole time. To me that sounds like a cozy read for sure.

3. Hollowpox – Jessica Townsend

Something about a MG fantasy book just screams cozy to me. I loved the first two books in this series and I should really get back into the series. Especially since the fourth book in the series was released this summer, so this seems like the perfect time to get back into the series.

4. Ship It – Britta Lundin

This is about fangirls and fandoms and I think that could be really cozy. At the same time I’m a bit hesitant as the reviews are very polarising. Readers seem to love it or hate it and I’m not sure where I would fall, this is definitely one I have to try for myself and see what I think.

5. Record of a Spaceborn Few -Becky Chambers

This is the epitome of a cozy book. I really liked the first 2 books in the series and I’m excited for this one and the fourth one. It’s like a cozy, slice-of-life story set in space. The characters are amazing and I can’t wait to dive back into the series.

6. Quests for Glory – Soman Chainani

Like I said, a MG fantasy story already feels cozy to me. This one has an added level of cozy for me as it’s a sequel series to the School for Good and Evil trilogy. So this is set in the same world and it has the same characters, just a new story. It sounds wonderful and I have been planning on reading this one for way too long now haha.

7. Level Grind – Annie Bellet

This is a bind-up of 4 novella’s in an urban fantasy series. Somehow this sounds cozy to me. I also love that the author lives (or used to live) in the Netherlands, Candyce and I got to meet her years ago. Now I just have to dive into this book.

8. Heartless – Marissa Meyer

I know this story might not be that cozy, but it has baking and the familiar world of Alice in Wonderland. Personally I also love a villain origin story, so I’m really curious to see how the Queen of Hearts became the way we know her.

9. A Curious Beginning – Deanna Raybourn

I think this might be a bit of a cozy mystery. It has a historical setting and I just hope it gives that cozy vibe I’m looking for. I have seen some raving reviews for this one, so I have pretty high hopes to be honest!

10. Keeper of the Lost Cities – Shannon Messenger

I had to go for another MG fantasy read as the final pick. Starting a new series also has a cozy vibe to me, there is something wonderful about knowing you have more books in this world and with these characters. I will admit, I didn’t realise this series was so long haha, there is supposed to be a 10th book maybe this year, maybe next year haha.

These are 10 books on my TBR I think bring the cozy vibes! I’m really curious if you agree with my picks or if you don’t think these are cozy at all. Let me know down below!
