Royal Update #257

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

Happy New Year everyone! I have two say it’s been a busy couple of weeks. Christmas was nice. We had a quiet day at home, opened gifts, and had a relaxing day. The next day was the boyfriend’s birthday, so his parents and sister came to visit. We also had some book club friends over to play some board games that weekend.

After that, there were a busy few days at work and we had New Year’s Eve. We had a quiet day at home. Well as quiet as it can be with non stop fireworks going off. I have to say I won’t mind there being a ban for those. It wasn’t fun after hours of that. Last weekend we visited friends to play some board games and I had a relaxing Sunday. I’m happy we don’t have plans this upcoming weekend.

Since my last Royal Update, I’ve added one new eARC to my Kindle: My Friends by Fredrik Backman.

In the last two weeks I read: Unsteady, The Lodge, Make the Season Bright, Every Other Weekend, Booked for the Holidays, O Goalie Night, Expiration Dates, and A Sea of Unspoken Things.

I’m currently reading: Only and Forever, Not in Love, Mr. Broody, and Beautiful Ugly.

Next I’m hoping to read: The Half King, A Serial Killer’s Guide to Marriage, and All the Missing Pieces.

So this shop log isn’t for things I bought myself, but two things I received for Christmas that I want to share. My boyfriend surprised me with the coin you flip to see if you should read a chapter or go to bed. My mother also surprised me with my own reading blanket. It’s so soft! I’ve been curling up with this one in the evening while I read.

Last weekend we watched Carry-On for our movie night. Action movies are something I don’t mind watching, but don’t tend to be my favorites. That being said, I did really enjoy this one. I definitely understand why this one is popular.

With Christmas being over, it’s back to “normal” music. The boyfriend recently discovered Teddy Swims and said I would probably enjoy it as well. He was right, this has been my go to while commuting to work.

So that’s my Royal Update for this week! How have you been? Read or watch anything amazing? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
