Down the TBR Hole #84

Again, I have to say I’m pretty surprised. Since my last Down the TBR Hole two weeks ago I’ve only added two new books to my want to read shelf.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 939 (my last post ended at 937. So in 2 weeks I added two new books. I’m at the same amount I started with in my last Down the TBR Hole.)

The Traitor Queen – Danielle L. Jensen

I remember needing a bit of time with The Bridge Kingdom before really understanding where the book was going, but I ended up really enjoying it. I read this book two years ago and if I’m honest I don’t remember the ending, haha. The Traitor Queen is the next book and I do still want to see where the story goes.

Keep

In Five Years – Rebecca Serle

In Five Years is a book I remember seeing everywhere when I first released and it sounded like something I’d love to read. Our main character goes to bad after some life changing decisions for it to be five years later. Is her five year plan the one that was really going to make her happy? I’m still really curious about In Five Years.

Keep

The Language of Ghosts – Heather Fawcett

The cover for The Language of Ghosts was the first thing that caught my eye. Middle grade books seem to get the best covers. An adventure on an enchanting, moving island to reclaim her family’s stolen throne and that the dark magic doesn’t take over her brother? That definitely sounds like something I need to read.

Keep

All Of Us Villains – Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman

All Of Us Villains is going to be a case of having a different edition in my want to read list. I’m still so confused that this can happen, but at least I can take a book off my want to read list, haha. All Of Us Villains is a darker story, but really good! The sequel just released and I’ll have to get that one soon.

Remove

Cathedral of Bones – A.J. Steiger

So this is the first book this week that I don’t remember. Even though this urban fantasy still sounds interesting, because I forgot it and don’t own it I don’t think I’ll be getting to Cathedral in the Bones anytime soon.

Remove

The Intimacy Experiment – Rosie Danan

After really enjoying The Roommate I’m actually surprised I haven’t read The Intimacy Experiment yet. These books are very sex positive and want to put a different light on certain subjects. Also, I became curious about these two characters and I hope they get their happily ever after!

Keep

Not My Problem – Ciara Smyth

I enjoyed The Falling in Love Montage by this author, so of course I wanted to read the next book she wrote. Not My Problem is going to deal with some more difficult things I think, but I also think it’s going to have some more lighthearted moments. This book is actually on my bookshelf to listen to soon on my audiobook app.

Keep

The World Ends Here – Rory Power

It seems that The World Ends Here was added on Goodreads in 2020, but there’s still not extra information or even a cover. So I’m just going to take this off my want to read list. This may not even actually become a published book. I can always add it again if more information is released and it still sounds good to me.

Remove

Overdue – Miranda Elaine

This author wrote the Fixing series that I really enjoyed, so I added Overdue when I heard about it. Our main character is a librarian, so that’s always something I like to read. That being said I think for now I’ll be taking it off my list. There are so many romances on my upcoming want to read list that it may be awhile before this one reaches the top.

Remove

A Guy Walks Into My Bar – Lauren Blakely

Another case of I’ve read this book, but there’s a different edition on my list, haha. A Guy Walks Into My Bar was such a fun book. I listened to the audiobook and I love the narrators. This was exactly the kind of romance that I love. Definitely one I’ll reread in the future.

Removal Percentage: 50%
Current “to-read” shelf: 934

This week’s Down the TBR Hole went really well, because I removed half of the book on this list. I’m very proud of myself, haha. What do you think of my decisions? Have you read any of these and think I should’ve made a different choice? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
