It’s been two weeks, so time again for my next Down the TBR Hole. I managed to only add two books since my last post, so that’s a pretty big accomplishment for me, haha. Hopefully I can take some more off of the list this week.
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 815 (my last post ended at 813, which means I actually did good for once!)
Empress of Flames – Mimi Yu
Empress of Flames is the sequel to The Girl King and I loved that book. This book was originally going to release last year, but ended up getting delayed. Hopefully I’ll be able to read this one in August if the release date stays the same.
Keep
Reverie – Ryan La Sala
Inception meets The Magicians is definitely a description that caught my eye. A lot of people I know described this one as average or lacking in certain areas. So for now I’ll take this off my shelf. Maybe I’ll come back to it.
Remove
Waiting for Tom Hanks – Kerry Winfrey
I actually got the second book in this series last year (they can be read as standalones), but don’t own this one yet. Waiting for Tom Hanks does sound like a lot of fun! I love the fact that the main character writes screenplays!
Keep
This Will Be Funny Someday – Katie Henry
Katie Henry is an author that writes about serious subjects, but also knows how to make you laugh. This Will Be Funny Someday is one I received a physical ARC of, but just really need to sit down and read. I’ve heard amazing things about this book so far.
Keep
Chilling Effect – Valerie Valdes
All I needed to see was a cat on this cover and knew I wanted to read this one. Sci-fi is a genre I’ve been wanting to read more of and Chilling Effect sounds like a fun one to start off with. I’ve heard some great things about this book and actually got it for Christmas last year.
Keep
The Bookish Life of Nina Hill – Abbi Waxman
This is actually a book I’ve wanted to read for quite some time and have owned for over a year! Just the title has me curious, but I love that the main character loves reading and works in a bookstore. As a reader, I have a feeling I’m going to love The Bookish Life of Nina Hill.
Keep
Cinder & the Prince of Midnight – Susan Ee
So, for the first time this week I have a book I don’t remember adding to my want to read shelf. This author wrote the Penryn & the End of Days trilogy I plan on reading soon, but other than that I don’t remember much about this one. Reading the synopsis I can’t say that I’m curious enough to pick this one up.
Remove
Top Secret – Sarina Bowen
Top Secret is one I’m actually surprised I haven’t read yet. I even own a signed copy of this one (well, Elle Kennedy signed it). I’ve read another M/M romance by these authors before and did love the story an have a feeling that will be the same for this one. Top Secret actually isn’t a big book either, so it shouldn’t take me long to read.
Keep
A Heart so Fierce and Broken – Brigid Kemmerer
I loved A Curse so Dark and Lonely and I have to say this book is really high on my list to pick up soon! The third and final book in the trilogy released in January, so at least I can finish this one in one go once I start reading A Heart so Fierce and Broken.
Keep
Grace – Jennifer Hanks
The DiMarcos are one of my favorite fictional families and if you haven’t read any of these books yet I highly suggest you do. I kind of jumped in during the middle of this series (they can be read as standalones) and I’m still playing catch up. Grace is the sixth book, so I’ll remove this one until I am ready to read it!

So that’s Down the TBR Hole for this week. I barely removed any, because a lot of these books I own. I’m excited about a lot of these those. Have you read any of these books? I’d love to hear from you if you have!
