Okay, it’s been two weeks since my last Down the TBR Hole and the total of books on my want to read shelf on Goodreads has increased with 13 books since last time. Even though I’ve actually switched a couple of these books to currently reading. So let’s just say it’s good I’m doing this post again.
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 815 (
my last post ended at 802, which means I didn’t do well again… oops…)
All the Bad Apples – Moira Fowley-Doyle
All the Bad Apples is a book I’ve heard a lot about. The opinions have mostly been positive, but I know this book is going to be intense. It’s definitely going to be hard hitting and deal with some difficult subject. That being said, I still want to give it a try!
War Girls – Tochi Onyebuchi
Even though I do want to read more science fiction books I have to say that this one isn’t pulling me in as much as I thought it did. War Girls does sounds like an action packed book, but not one for me at the moment. I have to say I haven’t heard many people talk about this one either. I’ll have to get more information and maybe I’ll add it back. I still think the cover is stunning though.
The Near Witch – V.E. Schwab
I think it’s safe to say that if a book is by V.E. Schwab it won’t be getting removed from my list, haha. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this author so far. I also own a really pretty edition of The Near Witch with stenciled edges. Also, I love stories about witches and this is Schwab’s debut. I’m really curious.
The Right Swipe – Alisha Rai
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love when books partially take place with digital elements. The Right Swipe has a dating app creator and that can become pretty interesting. Second chance romances can be a lot of fun, so I definitely want to give this one a try.
How to Make Friends with the Dark – Kathleen Glasgow
How to Make Friends with the Dark is a book I already own and I really love this cover. I have a feeling this is going to be a really hard book to read. The main character loses their mother and they were apparently really close. I’m really close with mine as well, so I know this is going to be emotional.
The Cursed Series: Part 1 & 2 – Rebecca Donovan
I remember seeing this everywhere right before it was released. This sounds like such an intense story and I’ve been loving mysteries. On top of that there’s a boarding school. I need this is my life!
Monster Born – K.A. Linde
K.A. Linde is an author I really enjoy, but I don’t think this book was actually released. I’m in the author’s Facebook group and haven’t heard anything about it recently either. For now I think I’ll take it off my list for now and I can always add it back when more information is released.
The Devouring Gray – Christine Lynn Herman
I’m actually surprised I haven’t read this one yet, because it’s a book I’ve been curious about for quite awhile. I actually have Isabelle’s copy on my shelf, because it was supposed to be a traveling book where a group would highlight quotes and leave notes. We didn’t do well, haha. I will get this done though.
If I’m Being Honest – Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
This will be easy, because I just received this book for Christmas, haha. I’ve been wanting to read If I’m Being Honest for awhile. It sounds like a contemporary I’ll enjoy. I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about If I’m Being Honest as well.
Serious Moonlight – Jenn Bennett
Another book I already own, so will definitely be keeping. I’ve read a book by Jenn Bennett before and really enjoyed it. The main character loves books, so Serious Moonlight is already scoring points with me.
Removal Percentage: 20%

So that’s my Down the TBR Hole for this week and I didn’t do well, haha. Have you read any of these books? If you have, did I make the right decisions? What books should I read first? I’d love to know what you think. Let me know in the comments.
