A couple of weeks ago we started doing the 5 On My TBR bookish meme and it was a lot of fun, so we want to bring this meme to the blog more regularly! This bookish meme is hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. This week’s prompt is white covers, but I decided to do last week’s prompt, graphic novels, instead. Let’s take a look!

Saga Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 – Brian K. Vaughan
Saga is a series I’ve seen everywhere online and a lot of people love it. I know Isabelle has read them and enjoyed it. I own the first two volumes and really need to give it a go! I heard it gets pretty emotional. I’m excited to give it a try.

Heartstopper Vol. 3 – Alice Oseman
I read and loved the first two volumes. The only reason I haven’t read this third volume yet is because I don’t want it to be over. Heartstopper really hits in all the feels and I love everything about it.

Shades of Magic Vol. 1: The Steel Prince – V.E. Schwab
This graphic novel takes place before the Shades of Magic trilogy already published. I still need to finish that trilogy and have only read the first book so far. Now I just need to decide if I’m going to finish the trilogy before reading the graphic novels.

Monstress Vol. 1: Awakening – Marjorie M. Liu
Isabelle already read this one and said it was really good. The artwork is stunning and I’m glad I picked up the first volume. This one definitely has more text than most graphic novels, but that’s not a bad thing. Monstress has a darker story, but it sounds really interesting.

Snotgirl Vol. 1: Green Hair Don’t Care – Bryan Lee O’Malley
I have to say that this is still an interesting title, haha. The main character is a fashion blogger (love when main characters are bloggers) and has major allergies. I’ve heard some mixed reviews about this one, but I’m definitely curious. The art is really gorgeous and I love how colorful it is.
I really enjoy graphic novels and I really need to read them this year! Also, I hope to read some more. If you have any recommendations, let me know in the comments! I’m always looking for new ones to read.

Saga and Monstress are GREAT graphic novels. Saga has great humor within the sci-fi story with the forbidden romance and Monstress is a beautiful, immersive fantasy. Have fun reading!

I love graphic novels. I still need to read the third volume of Heartstopper too. Saga is an amazing series. I really hope the next volume comes out somewhat soon – I know the author and illustrator are taking a break at the moment. I also want to read the Shades of Magic graphic novel.
