We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
Life has still been a lot of the same. Work and being home in my own little bubble. Last week I did have a full week off and it was so nice to not have to work for a week. I relaxed and got lots of reading done. I’m still in a weird reading mood, so it was nice to have time to read what I wanted.
Besides that we finally put up some decorations for Christmas. I couldn’t wait anymore after watching some Christmas movies. We don’t have our tree yet, but will be getting that at the end of this week. It’s getting colder here, so it’s the perfect time to enjoy the cozy decorations and curl up with a blanket.
I didn’t do good when it comes to not receiving or requesting more ARCs, haha. Well two of these are for ARC teams I’m on and I’m looking forward to both of them.
Where We Went Wrong – Kelsey Kingsley This author writes such unique stories and manages to do this with every book. She says Where We Went Wrong is not like any of her other books, so I’m so excited to read this!
My Life as a Holiday Album – LJ Evans I love the My Life as an Album series and to get a holiday related one is something that makes me very happy. On top of that, this one is about the kids of the characters in our favorite books in this series! Perfect way to start off the holiday season.
Then there were some read now books on Netgalley and they’re ones that look really good! I added four to my collection.
Perfect on Paper – Sophie Gonzales This book is Leah on the Off Beat meets To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. That was the first thing that caught my attention. Love advice, secrets and more. I have a feeling I’ll love this one.
You Have a Match – Emma Lord Adoption is a subject that’s been appearing in YA books more lately and after reading The How and the Why I was looking for more books with this subject. You Have a Match sounds like a perfect book for me. I hope to read it soon.
Amelia Unabridged – Ashley Schumacher A contemporary book that also has a main character who loves books. Yes, please! I have a feeling this one may be a bit emotional, but those can be the best books.
Slingshot – Mercedes Helnwein I have a thing for books that take place at boarding schools, so that’s all I really needed to know to grab this one on Netgalley.
And last but not least, Edelweiss has been friendly to me a few more times. I’m honestly still shocked and I guess that’s why I just keep requesting to see if I have a chance.
Heiress Apparently – Diana Ma I only recently heard about this one and was surprised I got the ARC with this one releasing tomorrow. It sounds like a really interesting contemporary and I hope to get to it soon!
These Hollow Vows – Lexi Ryan Cruel Prince meet A Court of Thorns and Roses? Yes, please! I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting fantasy read.
The Deepest Breath – Meg Grehan This cover is stunning and I like books that tackle harder subjects. Also, this one is written in verse. I’ve really started liking books like that.
Since my last Royal Update I read The Dire King, Little Monsters, Good Girl Bad Blood, Spoiler Alert, Today Tonight Tomorrow, Vampires Never Get Old, Charming as a Verb, The House in the Cerulean Sea, Shadows of Winterspell, The Cousins and The Boy, the Wolf and the Stars.
I’m currently reading The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, Wicked and Just Shelby. There are more, but these are the ones I’m actively reading, haha.
This week I plan on starting A Wolf for a Spell, Where We Went Wrong and My Life as a Holiday Album.
I’ve been really bad with keeping track of bookish news, haha. There was one cover reveal I’m really excited about. Heartstopper Vol. 4 now has a cover. I loved the first two and really need to read the third one soon!
I did good and haven’t bought anything these past couple of weeks. I have slowly started buying Christmas gifts, but I can’t show them here of course.
The boyfriend and I are still watching Everwood. We’re now halfway through season 3 and I’m enjoying it all over again. I forgot a lot of things since watching these episodes years ago! After season 3 we only have a season to go, so we’ll have to find a new show to start watching again.
I’m on full Christmas mode right now and will be this way for the coming weeks, haha. I love Christmas music and will never get enough. This is the album I’ve been listening to most recently. I need to make a playlist soon. I love the song Thank You.
So that’s how my past two weeks have been. How are you? Read anything interesting? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
