Like I said two weeks ago when I did a Down the TBR Hole post, for some reason my want to read shelf is getting out of control. So I’ve decided to make sure I do these posts a little more frequently to see if I can get it under control. So for now, I hope to do them every two weeks!
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 727 (my last post ended at 725, which means I did pretty good these past two weeks…)
The Second Story – Neil Patrick Harris
I loved the first book and am shocked I haven’t read The Second Story yet. The fourth and final book releases soo. I need to play catch up soon. I also think it’s really special that he wrote this series for his children.
Keep
Anna and the Apocalypse – Katharine Turner
I forgot about this one, but reading the synopsis is making me curious all over again. I’ve started reading more horror, so a horror comedy definitely has my attention. Maybe something I need to try and read next month!
Keep
Juniper Limits – Lora Richardson
Juniper Limits is the second book in a series I did start and enjoyed the first book. Juniper Limits is a companion novel I started, but once again got distracted. I do want to finish this one!
Keep
Dirty Headlines – LJ Shen
LJ Shen is a romance author I’ve wanted to read something by for quite awhile. I remember seeing Dirty Headlines everywhere when it first came out. It’s enemies to lovers. One of my favorite tropes. Yeah, need to read Dirty Headlines.
Keep
Ruthless Magic – Megan Crewe
I’m surprised I forgot about Ruthless Magic, because this sounds really good. And if I remember correctly, I got this on Netgalley (oops…). Magic and magic exams, yes please!
Keep
96 Words for Love – Rachel Roy
I love this title! The story sounds interesting, but friends of mine with a similar taste in books didn’t enjoy this one much, so for the moment I’m going to remove this one.
Remove
Middlegame – Seanan McGuire
After reading the Wayward Children series earlier this year, I got hooked on this author’s writing. I will be adding Middlegame to my Christmas wishlist.
Keep
The Beckoning Shadow – Kathryn Blair
I remember seeing this cover and being curious about the story. The Beckoning Shadow came out a year ago, but I don’t remember hearing friends talk about it. It sounds interesting, but I don’t see myself getting around to it anytime soon.
Keep
99 Percent Mine – Sally Thorne
This is a hard one for me. 99 Percent Mine sounds really good, but I’ve heard some mixed things about it. I also still need to read The Hating Game. For now, I’ll take this off my list.
Remove
Comics Will Break Your Heart – Faith Erin Hicks
I actually bought this book earlier this year, but still need to read it. I love that the synopsis says that there’s geek royalty. I have a feeling Comics Will Break Your Heart is going to be a fun read!
Keep
Removal Percentage: 20%
Current “to-read” shelf: 725
I didn’t remove many, but I was able to get back to the same amount of books on my want-to-read shelf as two weeks ago. Hopefully I can continue to keep this stable. If you’ve read any books on this week’s list, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
