Can’t Wait Wednesday | A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians – H.G. Perry

We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

"A sweeping tale of revolution and wonder in a world not quite like our own. It is the Age of Enlightenment -- of new and magical political movements, from the necromancer Robespierre calling for revolution in France to the weather mage Toussaint L'Ouverture leading the slaves of Haiti in their fight for freedom, to the bold new Prime Minister William Pitt weighing the legalization of magic amongst commoners in Britain and abolition throughout its colonies overseas. But amidst all of the upheaval of the early modern world, there is an unknown force inciting all of human civilization into violent conflict. And it will require the combined efforts of revolutionaries, magicians, and abolitionists to unmask this hidden enemy before the whole world falls to darkness and chaos"

I found out about this book last week and I immediately added it to my want-to-read list on Goodreads! This is an adult fantasy book with a historical setting and I don’t think I’ve heard anyone talk about it. It releases June 23rd so it’s a pretty short wait from now.

From the synopsis it seems like we’ll follow a couple of characters in different places in the world. I hope we get to see all those different places because that would be simply so cool! Adult fantasy has been on my list to read more of and I can’t wait to have this one on my shelves. Only one of my Goodreads friends read it, but she did rate it 5 stars so let’s hope the reviews will stay positive.

I haven’t read the author’s first book but it seems like that one has a lot of good reviews. If I enjoy this one, I will definitely put that one on my list as well. The synopsis for The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep sounds pretty cool so let’s hope this author is one I enjoy!

Had you heard of this book before? Do you plan on reading it? Come talk to me in the comments about it!
