Down the TBR Hole #29

Seeing how I keep adding new books to my Goodreads TBR, I decided to did this just a little more often than I have before. It’s only been two weeks since I did my last post, but with the number of books still on that list, it’s never too soon to do this again. I’m trying to make this a regular post!

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 550 (my last post ended at 539, so I added quite a few, but some came from my currently reading shelf that I didn’t end up start reading…)

These Rebel Waves – Sara Raasch

I have this a lot when writing Down the TBR Hole posts, but I’m really surprised that I haven’t read this one yet. The cover of These Rebel Waves is stunning. I’ve heard that this book has a lot of politics, but I love reading about that.

A Skinful of Shadows – Frances Hardinge

The cover of this book looks stunning, but if I’m honest, I don’t remember adding this to my list at all. Looking at Goodreads, it sounds interesting, but with all the books I own I don’t think I’ll be reading this one anytime soon. So it won’t be staying on my list at this time!

The Tiger’s Daughter – K. Arsenault Rivera

Again, this book sounds really interesting. I remember hearing about The Tiger’s Daughter, but haven’t heard much about it since. People I know haven’t read this one either. Even though it’s interesting, I have way too many books. I don’t own this one yet, so far now I’ll be removing it.

Prism – Nina Walker

Even though I’m normally not a big fan of people on covers, I really like this one. The colors are stunning and the story sounds amazing. I actually own this one and definitely plan on reading it, hopefully very soon!

Dance of Thieves – Mary E. Pearson

I don’t even have to think about this one. The Remnant Chronicles were so much fun, so I know this spin off is definitely a need to read for me. I own both of the books in this duology and they’re stunning. There is no doubt that I will be reading these.

Troubles – K.C. Enders

Another book I don’t remember adding to this list, haha. It’s a good thing I’ve started doing these posts regularly! Okay, the cover is really pretty and it sounds like something I’ll love, but I have so many books that are similar. I don’t own this book and probably won’t in the near future, so remove for now.

Furyborn – Claire Legrand

I was really excited about Furyborn, but since it was released, I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews. That being said, it does kind of make me distance myself from this book for now. Maybe I’ll pick it up in the future. If any of you have read it, I would like your opinions though. So let me know in the comments!

Rise as One – Ashok K. Banker

First thing I noticed in my want to read list is that Rise as One has no cover on Goodreads. The next thing I noticed was that it only has 11 ratings, 7 reviews and no release date. Rise as One is another book that I don’t remember adding to my list. I don’t think I have to say that this one isn’t staying on my list!

Leah on the Offbeat – Becky Albertalli

Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda is such a good book and I’ve read it a few times. Leah was an interesting character and I’ve wanted to know more about her. Yet again, I’m wondering why I haven’t read this one. Leah on the Offbeat has been on my shelf since its release, so it’s time!

Glass Sword – Victoria Aveyard

Red Queen is a series that’s gotten quite a few mixed reviews. I’ve already read the first book and did enjoy it! I started Glass Sword, but once again was distracted by something else, haha. I own the whole series, so I want to finish this soon!

Removal Percentage: 50%
Current “to-read” shelf: 545

Another week done and I’m proud of myself again. I managed to get rid of half of the books I talked about this week. What do you think of my choices? Should I have chosen differently? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear your opinion.

  1. I really need to get back to my own DOWN THE TBR as well. I’m in a mood; I want to clean up my shelves and to-read shelves on GR as well. This is an article I haven’t picked up yet since I started the blog again, but soon haha.

These rebel waves was a book I started, but couldn’t get into. Hope it was just the mood atm. I’m definitely going to give it another go sometime. I’m curious to see what you’ll tink of Prism!! I though it was a really original concept and really liked it. And I’m sure you’re going to love the Dance of Thieves duology; its really good ❤ Furyborn is one I’ve been wanting to read for ages. I got an arc back in the day and what I’ve read so far, I really liked but somehow I never finished the book. Have a beautiful hardcover copy on the shelves with deckled edges, so I’m not ready to part with it haha. I have a feeling that this book is a HIT or MISS and there’s not much in between haha.

    You did good; 50% removed!
