TTT #129| Comfort Reads

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is titles that would make good band names. I wasn’t really feeling this, so I decided to make my own topic. With everything going on in the world, I thought it’d be fun to talk about Comfort Reads. What books do I (re)read when I need a pick me up? Let’s take a look!

Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling I wouldn’t be me if this wasn’t the first book on my list of comfort reads! I’ve read this series, so many times, but I’ll never get sick of it. Every time I read it again it feels like coming home. I always have a warm feeling while reading about all of my favorite characters.

Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell Another book that feels like coming home when I pick it up! As a fangirl myself, I love reading about characters really loving something and being a part of a fandom. The chapters we get from her favorite series make this book even more fun.

Throne of Glass – Sarah J Maas I’ve done a re-read a few times to continue with the next book in this series. I love the world and all of the characters. Even if I have to admit that I still haven’t finished the last book. I know, I should be ashamed. It’s on my list to read ASAP!!

The Infernal Devices – Cassandra Clare This was my introduction to the Shadowhunter world and I’ve been hooked since! Will and Jem are my all time favorite characters. The setting and the world are so interesting and I couldn’t put these books down.

My Lady Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows I’ve read the physical book once and also gave the audiobook a go for my re-read. I’ve enjoyed this book so much and I’m so happy I did a re-read of this book. The way the authors twist history is so much fun and had me laughing out loud! My Plain Jane will be up next for a re-read.

Now that I’ve mentioned books I’ve already read at least two times, I want to talk about some that I definitely need to read again soon!

LUX series – Jennifer L. Armentrout I remember when a friend recommended these books. They sounded interesting, but I wasn’t so sure. Books with aliens weren’t something I’d given a try before this. I didn’t regret picking these up though!! I flew throught all of them. Daemon and Katy have become two of my favorite characters. Having one of the main characters love books just as much as me definitely helped!

Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston The only sentence I needed to be sold on this book was the following: “What happens when America’s First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales?” I loved every single minute of this book. Red, White & Royal Blue made me laugh, cry and swoon. This is definitely a book that will leave a smile on my face!

The Bromance Book Club – Lyssa Kay Adams A group of guys with a book club for romance books? I was in! Another book I loved every minute of. It was great how this author definitely made fun of romance books, but in such an interesting way. Also reading about men discussing these books to improve their relationships was just amazing. I’ll be coming back to this one often!

Nevermoor – Jessica Townsend So far we only have two books in this series, but they’re both amazing. I definitely felt some Harry Potter vibes and I would want to live in Nevermoor! The adventures are main character goes on make it impossible to put this book down.

Heartstopper – Alice Oseman I’ve read the first two volumes in one sitting and these cute graphic novels left me with a big smile on my face. These characters are so cute and I’ll definitely be reading Vol. 3 very soon. I really hope Alice Oseman keeps going with this story for a very long time.

So these are my comfort books! Have you read any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you have any comfort read suggestions, definitely let me know. Also feel free to leave your TTT link. I’d love to see your band name suggestions or other topics!

  1. Fangirl is such a good book. I love the Shadowhunters books too. I just reread the entire series mostly last year, so I’ll probably hold off on another reread for a while, but Chain of Gold is definitely getting another read before Chain of Iron comes out.

    1. I can understand that! It’s also a big time investment to do a reread of all of them!

    1. You really should! It’s so good!! The third book is out later this year.

  2. Fangirl is such a comfort read and honestly I’ve been thinking lately of re- reading it. I just love how it portrays the whole starting college experience, especially for introverts.

    1. It’s definitely on my list as well for a reread! I’ve already done a reread a few times. It doesn’t get old 😀
