We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books That Give Off Autumn Vibes (think setting, cover, etc.). Autumn is my favorite season, so let’s check out the books that give me vibes fitting this time of year!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – J.K. Rowling I don’t think I even have to explain this one. Going back to Hogwarts is an Autumn event! Reading this series really brings me a warm and cozy feeling. I don’t care how many times I’ve read them, this feeling doesn’t fade.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer – Michelle Hodkin Mara Dyer is a very dark and at times, creepy story! I read these when it was Autumn and it definitely gives those vibes. In many ways this trilogy is also a perfect Halloween read.
Nevermoor – Jessica Townsend Just like Harry Potter, Nevermoor gives me a cozy and warm feeling. A lot of people compare these two and while they have similar elements, they’re two different series. I’m anxiously awaiting the third book releasing at the beginning of next year.
LUX – Jennifer L. Armentrout This is a series I curled up with on the couch and had a warm blanket and drink. While this story doesn’t completely take place during Autumn, certain moments do. I just happened to read these during this time of year and I guess that’s a connection I’ll always make!
Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell Another book that feels like coming home when reading it. It fits the Autumn vibes topic well, because our main character just started college! Cath is a very relatable character and her reading a series that definitely matches Harry Potter really stole my heart.
Pumpkinheads – Rainbow Rowell What says Autumn more than a story that takes place at a pumpkin patch?!? This was such a fast and fun read! Makes me want to visit something like that again, but that’s not really something that happens here.
A Treason of Thorns – Laura E. Weymouth This book doesn’t really take place during Autumn, but it’s definitely a darker story and gives me Autumn vibes. A house that has emotions is such an interesting idea. Laura E. Weymouth has such an unique writing style, I can’t wait to see what she does next.
Dare You to Lie – Amber Lynn Natusch If you’ve watched Riverdale, you’ll understand what I mean with the darker vibe. There aren’t any bright colors and I feel that if Dare You to Lie were a show, that’s exactly how it would be. Also, with all the mysteries in this story, I loved the darker vibe. The sequel was just as amazing and I can’t wait for the next book.
Until Friday Night – Abbi Glines I chose this book, because I always connect football with Autumn. I grew up in a household that loved this sport, so many games were watched. I loved the first book in this series. The others weren’t always favorites, but the setting in this series is a great one.
Truly Devious – Maureen Johnson A boarding school and a murder mystery, definite Autumn vibes! I enjoyed this more than I expected to and I can’t wait to read the sequel. I love the setting and would definitely visit there. Going to school at that boarding school would’ve been very interesting!
So these are the books that give me Autumn vibes? Do you agree with any of my choices? Or do you have your own list of books? Feel free to leave your link in the comments! I can’t wait to see what books people choose this week.
