It’s been a month since I’ve done a Down the TBR Hole that I thought it would be a good time to do one again. My Want to Read shelf on Goodreads has increased again, so it’s time to take a look again!
Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 491 (
my last post ended at 483, I don’t think I’m ever going to get this to stay lower)
I Take You – Eliza Kennedy
Even though I’m not the type to judge a book by the Goodreads rating, this one is under three stars with over 5000 ratings. So that doesn’t sound too positive. And I’m not sure why I wanted to read it with the main character not being able to be faithful to one man. Cheating isn’t something I want to read about.
The Summer I Turned Pretty – Jenny Han
I loved this author’s Too All the Boys series. Also, I actually started this book once and knowing me I got distracted. I do see myself eventually reading this trilogy, so it can stick around for now!
Alice – Christina Henry
In all honesty, I’m not sure why this one is on my list. I’m not a big horror fan (I only recently read a couple of YA horrors). A few friends of mine have given it four stars on Goodreads. At the moment, I don’t think I’ll keep it, because I don’t see myself actually getting this one. I can always add it again if I changed my mind.
The One – Kiera Cass
I’ve read the first two books in this series and did enjoy them. Once again, another series that got put aside when I get distracted, haha. I do want to know how this all plays out, so it stays on the list!
The Gift – Cecelia Ahern
P.S., I Love You is a favorite of mine and this author wrote The Gift. I’m a big fan of books that take place around the holidays and when it plays a big part of the story. Because of that, I think I need to keep this one for now. I’ve wanted to read it in December for a couple of year now, but just haven’t gotten around to it!
The Last Letter From You Lover – Jojo Moyes
This author had me crying since Me Before You, but I haven’t picked up anything out side of that series. I actually owned the Dutch copy of this book, but only got a few chapters in. If it’s because I don’t really read in Dutch much anymore of the story just didn’t grab me, I don’t know. I don’t own this book anymore, so far now I’m going to remove it from my list.
Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List – Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
I’ve read a few books by this duo and my favorite has to be Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares. That being said, I’ve really enjoyed the few books I’ve read, so I will be keeping this one around. Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List sounds like a book I will love.
The Trouble with Destiny – Lauren Morrill
I actually don’t remember adding this book to my list or anything about it. The Trouble with Destiny sounds like a cute story, but I don’t think I’ll be picking it up anytime soon. I already have so many contemporary books I want to read.
Jillian Cade: (Fake) Paranormal Investigator – Jen Klein
This is a book I remember being really interested in when I heard about the release in 2015 (wow those four years went by fast). No one I know has read it, but I have to say I’m still curious, so this one is going to stick around for awhile longer!
One Tiny Lie – K.A. Tucker
I don’t have to think about this one, it’s a definite keep. Again, I’m wondering why I haven’t picked this one up yet. The first book, Ten Tiny Breaths, was so good! I need more of this series.
Removal Percentage: 40%
Current “to-read” shelf: 487
Hopefully next time I do a Down the TBR Hole post, my “to-read” shelf will still be at 487. I have a feeling that’s not going to happen though! What do you think of my choices? Are there any books I kept that I should’ve removed? I’d love to hear what you think!
