A friend of ours, Kwante, from Kwante in Wonderland created the Monthly Monday Book Shelfie. Every month there is a new topic. Continue reading to find out what the Monthly Monday Book Shelfie is and what to do if you want to participate!
This month’s topic is Halloween. What is your creepiest book? After you figure out what book you want to use, you do the following:
- You take a book shelfie – the book you chose in front of the other books on your shelf.
After that you answer the following questions:
- Where did you get the book?
- Have you read the book yet?
- What did you think of the book? If you haven’t read the book yet, what do you expect?
Now that we have explained everything, here are our creepiest books:

Where did you get the book?
I bought it online. We plan on reading it this month with our group of friends.
Have you the read the book yet?
No, I haven’t read the book yet. I am hoping to pick it up this week. It seems like the perfect read for in October.
What do you expect?
I expect a scary read with a lot of mystery that keeps me guessing until the end of the book. And I expect things from the past to pop up and make things seem totally different than they are. There will be a review, so I can let you all know if my expectations were met.

Where did you get the book?
I got Only Ever Yours at a Waterstones in London. It was part of a get your second book half price deal, I was intrigued by the cover and the blurb sounded ok so I couldn’t resist.
Have you read the book yet?
Yes I have. I read it a little less than two years ago, quite soon after I got it.
What did you think of the book?
It wasn’t quite what I was expecting and if you look it up online you probably won’t get why this book was so scary to me. But if you’ve read it you’ll agree with me, this is one hell of a scary book. I was so sad when I finished this book, and it was a kind of sadness that hardly ever get from a book. It was a kind of hopelessness and it was the middle of the night when I finished the book. Luckily my flatmate and best friend was still awake so she came over to my room to comfort me haha. I just had to cry for a bit and feel good about the world again. I never know if I would recommend this book or not, it was a really good book but I don’t think everyone will appreciate it and it definitely won’t give you any nice and warm feelings while reading. But if you’re up for it, you’ll read a super interesting and discussion worthy book.
So those are our creepiest books. Have you read them? What is the creepiest book you own? What is the creepiest book you’ve read?
Every month Kwante posts the new topic for the following month. She has a Dutch blog, so if you understand Dutch follow her to keep an eye on the new topics. If not, keep an eye out here. We will keep you posted.
Kwante thinks it’s fun to know who participates in the monthly Monday book shelfie, so use the link at the beginning of the post in your blog posts if you decide to participate! That would be greatly appreciated. After the next topic is posted we will update our post to let you know.
My creepiest books are the asylum series, insomnia, and Coraline. They’re like your nightmares wrapped up in a book.
I have seen the Asylum series a few times online. I will have to check it out.
It’s so good
