We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
Happy New Year! These last two weeks have been very busy and eventful! We started off with Christmas morning. My favorite day of the year. Except this year was a little more exciting. It was almost my 16th anniversary and I decided to be a modern woman and propose to my boyfriend, well fiancé now (it’s still weird saying that), with two engraved d20s. It was a very exciting day and this week we went and looked at engagement rings that we’ll be picking up in a couple of weeks.
It’s also officially 2026! I finished my 2025 reading with a total of 313 books read. We had a relaxing New Year’s Eve. Shadow liked watching the fireworks, but like us, was very happy when they were over, haha. This week we even got some snow. The news said we haven’t had this much snow since 2021.
Publishers have been closed since the holidays, so there haven’t been any new approvals. Right before Christmas Deathbringer was read now on Netgalley and sounded so good. I can’t resist books that take place at a magical institute.
Since my last Royal Update I finished reading: Room to Breathe, Playing for Keeps, The Storm, Good Spirits, You Are Home, The Raven Scholar, Almost Ravaged, The Devil She Knows, The Bright Side of Christmas, A Novel Love Story, and The Dagger and the Flame.
I’m currently reading Coldwire, The Book of Blood and Roses, and My Blade, Your Back.
This year is going to be the year of mood reading for me. A couple of books I want to read soon are: A Language of Dragons, What Happens in Amsterdam, and Cruel is the Light.
We finished watching season 2 of Wednesday and that ending already has me excited for season 3. They definitely left us with a lot of questions. The fiancé and I started Fallout quite a while ago, but got distracted, haha. We’re just about done with season 1. Even though I never played the game, I’m having a good time.
The holidays are all over, so I’m back to listening to my 2000s playlists, haha.
