Royal Update #284

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!

The last week of school and thus work was a difficult one, I was still a bit sick and I had to say goodbye to the kids I have taught for at least 2 years who are now leaving school. It was a bit emotional for sure! And I think next year will be worse, because I will have had those kids in my class for three years!! The last day of school we had a nice celebration with our team and I really enjoyed having drinks and dinner with some of my favorite coworkers. My first weekend of the summer vacation I went away with two friends, we spend it speed puzzling, reading, playing board games and eating good food. We had so much fun, we didn’t even take a picture hahaha. On Wednesday I went to the Efteling, a magical theme park here in the Netherlands. This past weekend I got a new couch I’m super happy with. And now I’m packing my bags for the next trip. My brother and I are going to Europapark in Germany, we’ll be going to the park for 3 days but we’ll be staying in a hotel the day before and the day after as well. So we’ll be gone for 5 days and I’m so so excited for it!

I have two really exciting new eARC’s to share with you; Death of a Cheerleader by Marina Evans and The Executioners Three by Susan Dennard. Susan Dennard has written Truth Witch, a book (series) I adore and I’m so excited to read this one!

Unfortunately I haven’t been reading much, I’m still reading Automatic Noodle and Bury Our Bones In the Midnight Soil. I still really enjoy them and I hope to finish them sometime the coming week, but for now I just haven’t really been reading. At the same time I also have had trouble sleeping for the last couple of weeks, and a lot of the times I try to fall asleep while listening to an audiobook. It’s easiest to listen to an audiobook I’m familiar with otherwise I still wouldn’t fall asleep. So I have finished The Assassin’s Blade (again this year) and I’m about 30% into Throne of Glass (also again).

I watched the first 2 seasons of Hacks on Netflix, there aren’t any other seasons available in the Netherlands just yet, hopefully soon though!

I haven’t been listening to anything specific lately, but I have listened to a lot of episodes of Gilmore To Say! This is such a fun Gilmore Girls podcast and I’m so excited I have more episodes to go.

And that was my Royal Update for the week! I did a lot, but not a lot of reading haha. How has your week been? Do you also have some time off during the summer? I would love to hear from you down below!
