Goodreads just posted an article about the 144 most read books for the 2025 reading challenge divided over 12 genres. So 12 books per genre! And I of course had to take a look at that list, I love lists. I also thought it would be fun to share how many books I have read, if I have books on my TBR and if there are any books I would like to read on the list. Let’s jump in!
I skipped some of the categories as I don’t read those, but I still have 8 categories to talk about! So let’s go!
Fiction

I’ve read Yellowface (and really liked it) and I have Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow on my TBR. This is not a genre I read a lot and I don’t see any books I’m that interested in to be honest.
Historical Fiction

Another genre I don’t read that often, but every now and then I come across a book I’m interested in. I have read both The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, I now they’re pretty hyped but I did enjoy them a lot. Lessons in Chemistry sounds really interesting to me, and I hope to read it at some point.
Mystery/Thriller
I had to include this genre, even though I haven’t read any of the books mentioned or plan on reading any of them. This is a genre I really enjoy and read pretty often, but these are not the books I’m interested in. Eight of the 12 books are by Freida McFadden, but I’ve never read anything by this author.
Fantasy

Another one of my most loved genres, but this time I had more success haha. I’ve read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, The Poppy War, The House in the Cerulean Sea and Mistborn. All great books! I own Babel, The Song of Achilles and Before the Coffee Gets Cold. There are a couple other ones I’m interested in, and I hope to read those at some point.

I never thought this was the category I would have read so many from haha. But with the hype surrounding all of these books I shouldn’t have been! I’ve read all the Sarah J. Maas books, the Rebecca Yarros books and the Carissa Broadbent books that are on this list. And recently I read The Zodiac Academy!

This is a genre I would love to read more often from! I have read Hail Mary and All Systems Read, I own Dark Matter and I would love to read The Handmaid’s Tale and The Ministry of Time. There are a couple of other books I might want to read at some point, but they aren’t a priority for now.

Can you believe I have read a romance book? And I want to read 3 more? I read The Seven Year Slip, and I would like to read the Elsie Silver book, the Emily Henry book and the Ali Hazelwood one!

Another one I have read a lot from! But with two Hunger Games books and the whole Throne of Glass series on the list, I shouldn’t have been surprised haha. I also want to read Rebel Witch from this list.
