As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is Title Starting with an ‘A’. I have no idea if I have any books on my shelves that fit this prompt, so it’s going to be interesting. Let’s just jump right in!
1. Assistant to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer
This is the one on this list I want to read first probably. I have read about one chapter already and did enjoy that. The premise sounds great and I’ve heard good things about the book. I love the map in the book so much, it’s basically the reason I’ve bought this book haha.
2. A Promise of Fire – Amanda Bouchet
This one has been on my TBR for years now! I do still want to read it, a bookish friend of mine adores this series and she has gotten me really excited. It’s a little bit outside my comfort zone but not too much so I have pretty good hopes for it. I haven’t heard anyone talk about this book or this author for awhile now but maybe I’m just not looking in the right places?
3. A Discovery of Witches – Deborah Harkness
Another one that has been on my TBR for a while. I still want to watch the tv series, but I’m not ‘allowed’ to do so until I’ve at least read this first book haha. It’s a pretty big book and I’ve heard it’s on the slower side so I haven’t felt the motivation to pick it up just yet. But, I hope to do so kind of soon haha.
4. A Curious Beginning – Deanna Rayburn
This one I have started at one point but I put it down in favor of something else and just never picked it back up. I think I will really enjoy this one and I want to read it soon (as I have been saying for such a long time haha). It sounds like my type of book and I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book haha.
5. A Girl Called Shameless – Laura Steven
Another one I have mentioned time and time again haha. I loved loved loved The Exact Opposite of Okay and hope I love this sequel just as much. Maybe it’s because I loved the first book so much and I’m just scared I won’t like this one as much?
It turned out I actually had a lot of books that qualified for this list! I could’ve made 3 or 4 lists haha. But I’m happy with the list I made! I’m excited about all of these books and I hope to read them sometime soon. Have you read any of these? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below.
I found Assistant to the Villain to be a quick but immersive read, I hope you enjoy ????
