We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is a freebie, so I decided to go with a topic from a while ago that I didn’t get to do. Non-romantic relationships in books are usually some of my absolute favorite parts of a good story so I can’t wait and share some that I love. Let’s jump in!
1. Manon & the Thirteen
Throne of Glass
I love them so so so much and there’s a couple of sentences that will have me bawling right away. ‘Run’ is even just one word that will give me a visceral reaction. I come across ‘the’ paragraph from Kingdom of Ash on TikTok every now and then and I just can’t skip it. Every single time it gives me the chills and I’ll shed a couple of tears. These witches own my heart!
2. Manon & Abraxos
Throne of Glass
It feels a little bit like cheating but I can’t help myself. Manon is one of my favorite characters and I adore a lot of the non-romantic relationships Sarah J. Maas writes. As an animal lover myself, I love love love the relationship between Manon and Abroxos. The relationship is developed really well and you can tell how much love there is between them.
3. The Golden Trio
Harry Potter
One of the earliest relationships I’ve read about! I love how they friendship started when they beat the troll and how they stuck together through all of it. There have been a lot of rough moments but in the end they always came back together. This is one of the relationships I can always come back to when I’m not feeling great.
4. ‘Verity’ & Maddie
Codename Verity
This book brought me to tears and it was all because of the friendship between Verity and Maddie. I loved reading about them and the ending was really well done even though it was hard to read.
5. The Crows
Six of Crows
Do I even need to talk about the Crows? I love this group of misfits so much! They are a great example of found family, a trope I adore. I love rereading this series and that is mostly because of the dynamic between these characters.
6. Safiya & Iseult
Truthwitch
I love female friendships and the one between Safiya and Iseult is a special one! It’s embarassing that I still haven’t continued reading this series, I should really do so soon.
7. Mia & Mr. Kindly
Nevernight
Mia and Mr. Kindly is another special relationship, I’m not sure how to describe it but you will know what I mean when you’ve read the series. They have such an interesting dynamic and I really enjoyed reading about them.
8. Arsinoe & Jules
Three Dark Crowns
Adoptive sisters and best friends, another relationship I loved. Since the beginning Arsinoe was my favorite queen and I never disliked Jules. They really loved each other and I always felt that love.
9. Kell & Rhy
Shades of Magic
More adoptive siblings! I love both Kell and Rhy so much and their bond is such a special one. Reading more about them in the Fragile Threads of Power was such a treat and showcased more of their special bond. I can’t wait for the next instalment in that series!
10. Cass & Jacob
Cassidy Blake
Cass and Jacob are such cuties! I love that Jacob is a ghost and really liked their dynamic. At times their interest may not align and it was interesting to see how they handled that. I’m sad there won’t be more books in the Cassidy Blake series because I would’ve loved to read a couple more adventures with Cass and Jacob!
These are 10 of my favorite non-romantic relationships, have you read any of the books I got them from? What are some of your favorite non-romantic relationships? I would love to hear from you!
I used this idea for my Valentines Day freebie. I’m always delighted and impressed when an author is able to create meaningful relationships between people without resorting to to the easy route.
Great list!

Great list. I like the friendship between Brody and Gary in Meghan Quinn’s Bridesmaid for Hire. They made me laugh.
