Looking Back at Our Bookhauls| March 2023

It’s that time of the month that we do a little check to see if we’re reading what we add to our shelves. This time we’ll be looking back at our bookhaul for March 2023. What have we already read and what do we still need to read? Keep on reading to find out!

Candyce

In March 2023, I added 19 books to my shelves. That was quite a bit. I honestly don’t remember what books I added that month, so it’ll be interesting to see how many I’ve read, haha. Let’s take a look!

The Neighbor Favor – Kristina Forest
Read

The Neighbor Favor was a cute book and I loved that it started out with the emails our main character writes to her favorite author. The second book in this series that follows Lily’s sister is now out and I want to get to that soon.

The Way I Used To Be – Amber Smith
Read

The Way I Used To Be was a book that was everywhere when it released and I needed to read it myself. This book was so well written, but also so emotional. The Way I Used To Be isn’t an easy book to read. I just got the sequel and I’m curious to see how Eden’s story continues.

Forever, Interrupted – Taylor Jenkins Reid
Unread

Forever, Interrupted is one of the only Taylor Jenkins Reid book I haven’t read yet. I haven’t read the synopsis for this one yet and I want to go in blind. This is one I need to read soon.

Brutal Prince – Sophie Lark
Read

Sophie Lark is an author that’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. Brutal Prince is the first in a mafia romance series that I had already read, but didn’t physically have on my shelf. I recently read the third book.

King of Battle and Blood & Queen of Myth and Monsters – Scarlett St. Clair
Unread

These are two I still haven’t read yet, but I love the covers. I’ve heard great things about King of Battle and Blood, but mixed things about Queen of Myth and Monsters. Fantasy romance is a genre I’ve been reading more of, so I’ll have to bump these up my TBR.

Twisted Games – Ana Huang
Unread

Twisted Love was quite the pleasant surprise and I need to continue the series. I haven’t read Twisted Games yet, because a friend and I put this on our buddy read list and this isn’t one we’ve gotten to yet.

Komi Can’t Communicate Vol. 4 & Vol. 5 – Tomohito Oda
Unread

Komi Can’t Communicate is a fun and lighthearted manga. I actually just read volume 3 last weekend. I’m still enjoying this series, but it is starting to fall a little flat. Hopefully there’s a little more development in these two volumes.

A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow – Laura Taylor Namey
Unread

When A Cuban’s Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow released, I kept hearing great things about it. For some reason this really feels like a summer read, so it’ll be time to read it very soon.

Solitaire – Alice Oseman
Read

Heartstopper is one of my favorite series and Tori is a character I became curious about. She really stands up for her brother, so I wanted to read her story. Solitaire is an emotional read, but a good one.

Never Ever Getting Back Together – Sophie Gonzales
Unread

For some reason I keep saving Sophie Gonzales’ books to read, because I know I’ll love them. After reading Perfect on Paper last year I’ve been wanting to pick up Never Ever Getting Back Together. I have a feeling this is going to end up being my favorite.

Seven Faceless Saints – M.K. Lobb
Unread

Seven Faceless Saints is a book I actually started, but as usual I was reading so many books at once that I ended up distracted, haha. The sequel to this duology released recently, so hopefully I’ll read them back to back soon.

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries – Heather Fawcett
Read

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries was such a cozy fantasy and I had such a good time. At the moment, I’m actually shocked I haven’t read the sequel yet. I know I’ll love that one as well.

Kingdom of the Feared – Kerri Maniscalco
Read

Kingdom of the Wicked was a trilogy I ended up loving a lot more than I expected. The trilogy ended in an unexpected way, but I was happy with how it all played out. I’m actually going to be rereading this one, so I can start the first adult fantasy romance this author wrote soon. Just a little refresher.

Authentically, Izzy – Pepper Basham
Unread

Authentically, Izzy is another one I’m surprised I haven’t read yet. This book is told through letters and that’s one of my all time favorite things in books. Again, for some reason this really feels like a perfect summer read.

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi – Shannon Chakraborty
Unread

Out of all of the books on this list, I should’ve read this one. I did start and I’m really far, but again I got distracted. Isabelle and I were buddyreading this one and I failed, haha. I need to change that soon.

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers – Jesse Q. Sutanto
Read

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers is a cozy mystery that was a lot of fun. While reading I thought everyone was a suspect at a certain point and hadn’t figured it out before it ended. This was a fast and fun read.

The Love Wager – Lynn Painter
Read

Lynn Painter is one of my favorite authors and proved again why she is when I read The Love Wager. This romantic comedy hit me in all the feels and I’ll definitely be reading it again.

End Result
Read: 9/19 – 47.4%
TBR: 10/19 – 52.6%

Isabelle

My March 2o23 bookhaul was probably my biggest bookhaul of 2023! I visited a ton of bookstores when I was in New York and Chicago and I also got some books for my birthday. Hopefully I also read quite a lot of them, let’s take a look!

Haikyu! 1 – 12 – Haruicki Furudate
read

Has it only been a year since I started this manga? I adore this series so so much! There are still a lot of volumes I need to get, but I’m quite happy with my current collection.

My Sister, the Serial Killer – Oyinkan Braithwaite
read

I wanted to read this one for such a long time! And this past year I finally did haha. I enjoyed this one a lot, it was different than I expected but it was still great for sure.

Cramm This Book – Olivia Seltzer
unread

I have read a chapter in this one I think, I hardly ever read a whole non-fiction book in one go haha. There is a ton of interesting stuff in this book though and I hope to read some more chapters soon!

Monstress vol. 4 – Marjorie M. Liu & Sana Takeda
unread

I can’t believe I still haven’t read this one yet! While I like having some unread graphic novels on my TBR, I usually don’t keep them that way for too long haha. I really enjoy this series, so I would love to read this one soon.

The Wicked + the Divine vol. 2 – Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie
unread

This is one I don’t mind keeping on my TBR for a bit longer. I enjoyed the first volume but didn’t love it, I do still want to read this one but it isn’t a high priority.

The Lying Woods – Ashley Elston
unread

I had hoped I would’ve read this one by now, but with how little I’ve been reading it just didn’t happen yet. So far I’ve loved every Ashley Elston book I’ve read so I have pretty high hopes for this one.

The Adventures of Amina al-Sarifi – Shannon Chakraborty
read

I loved this one! It was such a great ride and I can’t wait for the sequel (although I have no idea when that one will be released). I would love to read my other Shannon Chakraborty books in the mean time.

End Result
Read: 14/18 – 77,78%
TBR: 4/18 – 22,22%
