TTT #335| Books to Read on a Rainy Day

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is April Showers and it’s described as a free prompt: books with rain on the cover/in the title, that have rainstorms in the story, or that have anything to do with rain. I’m drawing a blank on covers or titles with rain, so I’m making my own version. Here are ten books I’m saving to read on a rainy day. Let’s take a look!

Listen for the Lie – Amy Tintera

Listen for the Lie is a mystery I’ve been seeing everywhere lately and have talked about on the blog. Our main character wakes up in her best friend’s blood and everyone thinks she murdered her best friend. Herself included. Years later a hit true crime podcast decides to cover this case. I loved when podcasts are incorporated in books. I’m excited to read this one.

Where Sleeping Girls Lie – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

Where Sleeping Girls Lie is a mystery that takes place at a boarding school where dark secrets are discovered. I loved Ace of Spades by this author and boarding schools are my favorite settings, so I have high expectations for this one.

Addicted for Now – Krista & Becca Ritchie

What’s better on a rainy day than to escape into a dramatic and angsty story? Our main characters go through a lot in this series and things aren’t easy. These are addictive reads and great to disappear in during a dark and rainy day.

None Shall Sleep – Ellie Marney

The tagline for None Shall Sleep is “a psychological thriller about two teenagers teaming up with the FBI to track down juvenile serial killers. This is giving me The Naturals vibes and I loved that series.

The Mystery Writer – Sulari Gentill

I love when characters are fans of books or write them and that’s the case in The Mystery writer. Our main character falls in love with her literary idol. Except she finds him murdered the day after she gives him her manuscript. I loved The Woman in the Library by this author and I’m very excited to read The Mystery Writer.

The Crown of Gilded Bones – Jennifer L. Armentrout

A new fantasy world is also another perfect place to be on a rainy day. I loved the start of the From Blood and Ash series and it’s really time for me to continue Poppy’s story. There are quite a few books for me to catch up on, so I need to get going.

Magnolia Parks – Jessa Hastings

Like I mentioned earlier in this post a book filled with drama and angst is great for a rainy day. From what I heard Magnolia Parks fits that really well. I know a lot of people devour these books and I hope I end up doing the same.

The Big Bang Theory – The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series – Jessica Radloff

So I’m not much of a non fiction reader, but I make a few exceptions. The Big Bang Theory is one of my favorite shows and my comfort show. So how fun is it to read more about this show and behind the scenes information? A rainy day would be perfect to read some of this while having the show on in the background.

Bookshops & Bonedust – Travis Baldree

Legends & Lattes was such a fun cozy fantasy and I still haven’t read Bookshops & Bonedust. I have a feeling this will be a book I finish in one sitting, but again, it’s great to escape to a fantasy world on a rainy day.

Every Exquisite Thing – Laura Steven

A YA horror-thriller-romance retelling of The Picture of Dorian Gray sounds like another great choice for a rainy day. Every Exquisite Thing seems like a great story to dive into on a dark and rainy day.

So here are ten books I’m saving to read on a rainy day. Have you read any of these? Or what kind of books do you like to read on a rainy day? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
