TTT #334 | TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Movies/TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books. I watch a lot of tv shows, but I have to say I usually hope books get turned into tv shows (or movies). So thinking about this the other way around is a bit weird. Interesting for sure, but also a bit weird haha. Let’s take a look and see which tv shows I picked!

1.Wolfpack

I haven’t completely watched it yet, but I enjoyed it so far. This type of show would work really well as a book series in my opinion. You could expand on the lore and the world, dive into the minds of the different main characters. I would definitely pick it up!

2.Elite

This might be a bit of a stretch. I could totally see this as a book, I have for sure read books like this before. But I’m not sure it would be ‘amazing’ or better than the tv show.

3.Gilmore Girls

I could totally see this as a huge book series. One of those feel good series that lets you grow up with the characters! Diving into the minds of Rory and Lorelai but also in the minds of Emily, Christopher or Paris. I think we’d get a very different appreciation for all of them that way!

4.Witches of East End

I really enjoyed this show! This would be another one that would work well as a book (series) because of all the lore you could expand on. I love diving into magic systems and character backgrounds. There is a lot going on in the show and there have been a lot of twists. It could be so addictive!

5.Moonlight

I loved this show so much and I hated that is was cancelled. There is a chance I picked this one just because I wanted to talk about it again haha. I would love to watch this show again! But I do also think this could work as a book. Once again there is a fantasy element so discovering how all of that works in this world is already an interesting part for a book. There is also a romance element that would play out nicely in a book.

6.Grimm

Another fantastic tv show that I should rewatch soon. There was so much lore in this show, amazing twists and wonderful characters. I can see this play out in a multiple book series that would be very beloved and have readers ship different couples!

7.The Following

I’m starting to repeat myself, but this is another show I would love to rewatch! This had such a cool concept with twists I didn’t see coming and a lot of unreliable characters. I never knew who I could trust and I love to read books like this as well. If you told me this was a book series I would buy it in an instant!

8.Prodigal Son

I loved this show and I think the premise would work amazingly for a book. The son of a convicted serial killer who works with the police as a profiler. I would pick that up right away! And knowing the twists we got in the tv show, I just now this would be a bestseller!

9.Good Girls

Another show I adored! I’m still bitter we didn’t get another season. This would be an amazing book series, I could especially see it work as a spicy book series. If you’ve seen it, you probably love Rio and the way he says ‘Get in the car Elizabeth’… Now tell me that won’t make for the best spicy story.

10.Salvation

As a scifi fan, I could see this work as a book for sure. We probably already have a couple stories like it. A meteorite coming to destroy earth, a student and an miljardair trying to prevent it, you know the story ;). I did really like this show so I would love to see how it would be adapted to a book!

This was a fun excersise! And as you probably have seen, it reminded me of some of my favorite shows that I know need to rewatch haha. Have you seen any of these? What do you think about my choices? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I don’t really watch that much TV anymore I feel like I’m kind of unplugged from the shows that are popular now but Wolf Pack sounds amazing I’d totally read a book about that! And I’m a huge Grimm fan too! I’m pretty sure there are Grimm books but I don’t know if they’re novelizations of the show or more adventures.

  2. Your wish have come true, Witches of East End is also already a book, it was loosely based on the books by Melissa de la Cruz. I enjoyed the first to books in the series Witches of East End and Serpent’s Kiss. They are different then the tv series, just a warning before you dive in.
Also yes Grimm, would also be my suggestion, I would love to dive deeper into that world, one of the best fantasy series in my opinion.
