Down the TBR Hole #123

So we’re starting with the same amount of books on my want to read shelf as two weeks ago! Even though I haven’t removed any, I haven’t added any new books either. We’re also getting really close to being done with the first round of my shelf. After we finish, I’ll go back and start again. It’s been quite some time since I started these posts, so it’s time.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. This meme is now being hosted by Jody from I’m Into Books. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 754 (my last post ended at 754. So the same as last time.)

One of the Girls – Lucy Clarke

One of the Girls is a psychological thriller that caught my eye when it released in June 2022. I want to say I even received an eARC of this one (oops…). This is one I still want to read though. It sounds like the perfect summer thriller. I mean a bachelorette trip to a Greek island ends in murder? That screams summer.

Keep

Say I’m the One – Siobhan Davis

I really love the cover of Say I’m the One and that definitely was part of the reason I added it to my want to read shelf. Say I’m the One sounds like a very emotional second chance romance and I love those. These books are also long, so I’m excited to give the start of this series a go.

Keep

Exes and O’s – Amy Lea

I’m hoping that this will be the last case of a book being on the want to read shelf while I’ve read the book, but another edition has been tracked. Exes and O’s was a cute romance and our main character is a bookstagrammer. I really enjoyed Exes and O’s and I need to read the next book in this series.

Remove

Magnolia Parks – Jessa Hastings

Magnolia Parks was a book I saw everywhere in the summer of 2022. I even have the five books that have been published in this series on my shelves, but just haven’t started the first book. It’s described as British Gossip Girl. I know that these books are going to be angsty and dramatic, but I have a feeling I’m going to be hooked.

Keep

Run Time – Catherine Ryan Howard

So I don’t read many horror books, but the synopsis of Run Time sounded really good. All the synopsis says is “movie-making can be murder”. And it also describes different aspects of the movie filming that I think describes our book. I’ve heard great things about Run Time and I still really want to read it.

Keep

Funny Feelings – Tarah Dewitt

Tarah Dewitt is an author I’ve been wanting to read something by, because I keep hearing amazing things. If I remember correctly, this is a stand-up comedian romance. I’ve never read one of those. Also, I love this cover!

Keep

Playing for Keeps – Tristen Crone

Playing for Keeps is a book I actually started reading and I think I got about 30% in. I was actually loving it, but I’m a reader who gets distracted very easily, haha. This is a grumpy-sunshine romance that includes board games. I need to sit down and finish this one.

Keep

Roll for Initiative – Jaime Formato

I actually bought Roll for Initiative last May for my middle grade May reading month. Why I didn’t end up reading it? No clue! I’ve played D&D before and I love that our main character uses it as a way to become more confident. Or I should say, that playing this game makes her more confident. I’ll definitely be reading Roll for Initiative this May.

Keep

The Most Likely Club – Elyssa Friedland

The Most Likely Club was everywhere when it released in September 2022. After a high school reunion a group of friends get together to achieve their high school superlatives. I love books like this and still really hope to read it.

Keep

The Last Word – Taylor Adams

The Last Word is still a thriller that I really want to read. This is based mostly on the fact that our main character is a woman who wrote a negative book review and it seems that the author isn’t too happy about this. I have a feeling this is the perfect rainy day read.

Removal Percentage: 10%
Current “to-read” shelf: 753

So this was my final round of Down the TBR Hole before starting a new round. Well there are three books left on this list before I start at the top! What do you think of the choices I made this week? What book should I pick up first? Let me know in the comments. I’d loeve to hear from you.
